Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryOLIVE CLASPER (nee FORREST) October 26, 1916 May 16, 2012 With sadness the family announces the peaceful passing of Olive on May 16, 2012 at Golden Links Lodge at the age of 95. Mom was predeceased by her beloved husband of 60 years Bill, and by her brother Harry of California. Olive will be missed and lovingly remembered by her three sons Barry (Pam) of Toronto, Tom, and Bob (Marilyn); her five grandchildren Andrea (Bill) Murray of Halifax, Ken (Naomi) currently of Brazil, Brian (Suzanne), Kimberly (Reid) McGregor, and Douglas and her great-grandchildren Austin and Zachary Murray. She will also be remembered by her many nieces and nephews in California. Mom had fond memories of her childhood years on Polson Avenue in Winnipeg where she attended St. Johns High school and met Bill. They were married in June 1941. Olive and Bill were fixtures in the Winnipeg square dance community for over 45 years hosting many workshop groups in their home on Montgomery Ave. She and Bill also were members of the Fort Rouge Curling Club. She loved the game and continued her interest in it throughout her entire life. They raised their family in the Riverview neighbourhood where she found great satisfaction in hosting Sunday dinners for her entire family. They enjoyed many vacations with the family at Grand Beach, as well as camping trips to California, Banff and numerous other locations. They later travelled to England and other parts of Europe and took several cruises. They travelled extensively throughout North America attending many conventions, festivals and square dance resorts, acquiring a large network of square dance friends. She and Bill eventually moved to Kirkoff Gardens apartments. After Bill's death she resided at The Rosewood and finally at Golden Links Lodge. Mom will always be remembered for her love of family and her generosity. She took pride in her children and grandchildren's accomplishments and was always there to cheer them on. The family would like to thank the staff at Golden Links for their wonderful care and compassion over the last two years. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website. Barry and Pam - We're sorry to learn of the passing of your mom. I didn't know that you could actually inherit a "square dance" gene. That may help to explain some of your passion. As you celebrate your mom's life, we hope that your many happy memories of times you shared will provide peace and comfort. - Posted by: Diane and Gord Marsh (Friends of Barry and Pam) on: May 30, 2012

Stories about your mom have always been positive. Remember, she was 95, not 55 and her rest is now deeper. Though you still mourn, I know that you and your family will recall the blessing that she was, will become closer and will carry on with a life which she founded.
