Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGERALDINE MAY SKINNER July 1, 1925 - May 23, 2012 Geraldine Skinner passed away peacefully at LaVerendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, ON after a brief illness, in the company of beloved family and friends. Geraldine was the devoted wife of Dr. Harry Skinner, mother of Steven (Allison) and grandmother of Frances Mackenzie. She was predeceased by her husband and her two sons Robert Fredrick and David Harrison Skinner. A kind and cultured woman, Geraldine's life was significantly marked by her love of music, opera, ballet, and the arts. When raising her three boys, she was a participant in several local choirs, and the choir director at St. John's Anglican Church. One of number of influential women, Geraldine helped to promote the cross border concert series between Fort Frances and International Falls in the 1970s. She was an avid curler and someone who enjoyed the peacefulness of Rainy Lake, cherishing the memories of special times at the cabin on Hostess Island with family and friends. The Skinner family would like to acknowledge the staff at LaVerendrye Hospital and Rainycrest for their kindness and care during the last eight months of Geraldine's life. Special thanks are also given to close family friends Bonny Carlson, Lee Stinson, Barbara Murray and Keith Jordan for their compassion, thoughtfulness, and assistance over the last number of years. A memorial service in celebration of Geraldine's life will take place at Green's Funeral Home in the summer of 2012 (date TBA). In lieu of flowers, donations would be gratefully accepted at the Nature Conservancy of Canada.

I saw the obit in paper & wondered if I am somehow related to your family. My grandfather's name was James Fredrick Skinner & his father's name was Robert Earl Skinner. They had been in Ontario at one time but born in the states. We are also related to the Mordens. I am sorry for your loss. Regards, Karen Skinner - Posted by: Karen Skinner (possible relative) on: May 27, 2012

Geraldine Skinner and her family were very gracious to us for all the times that we visited as guests of her son, Robert, at Hostess Island. Dr. Skinner was always proud to say that Geraldine purchased that piece of property for only $1 and it was one of the best investments she had ever made. You were a kind and gracious woman, Queenie. May you rest in peace. Steven and Allison and "Roberta", we send our love and hugs in this especially difficult time with so much loss in a short period of time. - Posted by: Cheryl and Henry Wiechern, sons Alex and Andy (Friend) on: May 26, 2012
