FINLAY JOEL CONWAY June 18, 2007 - May 24, 2012 It is with sadness, that after a long, brave battle, we have to say good-bye to Finlay. Finlay touched everyone that met him and could light up any room he was in. We will always remember what a superhero he was. He will be missed every day by his parents, Jay and Karly, his sister and best friend Skylar, grandparents, Dan and Delores Conway, Don and Joan Vancott and Cheryl and Bob Evans, great-grandmothers, Eunice Bolton and Alma LeClerc, uncle Joel and aunty Kat and uncle Jordey as well as numerous other family and friends. Waiting to wrap his arms around Finlay in heaven is his Big Papa. We would like to extend a big thank you to Dr. Rochelle Yanofsky, Dr. Donna Wall, the Palliative Care Team, Cathy Bourne, Michelle Morton, Dawn Kidder and the incredible staff on CK5. We spent lots of time up there and your hugs and laughs made us feel better when at times we didn't think we could. We would like to say how much we appreciate all the love the Bombers organization has shown to us. Finlay felt so special every time we got to go on the field or some of the guys would come visit him in the hospital; what could ever beat having your birthday party on the Bomber field. Thank you, as well, to the Dream Factory. Finlay's wish to go to Disney World came true thanks to all your hard work and dedication. These are memories made that we will forever cherish. To our friends and family that have held us up and loved Fin, words cannot express how we feel about you. Finlay brought something special to all of our lives. He was an incredible boy that never ceased to amaze us with his strength. His smile, sweet nature and big laugh will forever be in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Children's Hospital (CK5) or The Dream Factory. Memorial service will take place on Friday, June 1, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue with a reception to follow. Chapel Lawn www.chapellawn.mb.ca 885-9715

Condolences & Memories (25 entries)

  • Sorry I didn't get to stay To laugh and run and play to be here by your side I'm sorry that I had to die God sent me down to be with you to make your loving heart anew to help you look up and see Both God's little me. Mommy I wish I could stay Just like I heard you pray. But, all the angels did cry, when they told little me good bye. God didn't take me cause He's mad He didn't send me to make you sad But to give us both a chance to be a love so precious,.....don't you see! Up here no trouble do I see and the pretty angles sing to me the streets of gold is where I play You'll come here too, mommy someday Until the day you join me here, I'll love you mommy dear Each breeze you feel and see brings love and a kiss from me. - Posted by: I looked and looked (friend) on: Jun 08, 2012

  • Tragic. The strength, love and determination of this young boy is certainly something to admire. The support, love and dedication of all involved to make his short stay with us a tad easier to bear for him and the family is also to be admired. I personally will always hold the memory of Fin close to my heart. There just has to be a reason and I just wish I understood. I want the family to know this young boy's life touched all of us and we share in your pain and sorrow. Skylar, not to worry, I will be out watering the trees. (Just a phone call away, Len). - Posted by: Len Boulanger (Friend) on: May 29, 2012

  • Words cannot express the hole we are left with now that Fin our angel is gone. Such a beautiful sweet soul. As are all the Conways. Reading Sharon's (Don's co-worker) story reminded me of Kar telling me when she told the kids they'd be returning to Grandpa's work, the reaction she got was like they won the lottery! Jumping up and down, screaming...meanwhile days earlier she'd given them the amazing news that they were goin to Disney..to a lukewarm response! lol..These kids just remembered feeling special, and to them that was awesome. Fin, this world will never be the same without you buddy. You were so brave, rest now. love you so much, Aunty Leslee - Posted by: Leslee (Aunty) on: May 28, 2012

  • Sorry I never had the opportunity of meeting Finley. I heard the news of his health through your Grandma. She told me stories about him. I will be praying for your family thru this great time of need. - Posted by: Steven Carlson (Cousin) on: May 28, 2012

  • We never had the opportunity to meet Finlay, but Dan & Delores kept us updated on all that was happening in his life. Dan told us that his name meant 'warrior', and from all we've heard he lived up to this description in a BIG way. We'd like to pass on our condolences to the entire family and know that Finlay is free of pain and at peace. - Posted by: Brent & Laurie Jervis (family friends) on: May 28, 2012

  • I will miss your contagious smiles and your wonderful stories that you'd share. I will miss Fin dearly. My heart and prayers go out to the family. - Posted by: Mary Jean Reyes (Paediatric Oncology Clerk) on: May 28, 2012

  • I met Fin where I work with his grandfather Don Vancott. I had the privilege of having Fin draw me a picture and it still hangs on my wall behind me. He was such a wonderful little boy with a big smile and a heart warming laugh. He had such a great time here that day. I will always remember him fondly. Take care Karly Jay and your other little angel Skyler who I also had the privilege of meeting too. - Posted by: sharon hewitt (I work with Don Vancott the grand father of Fin) on: May 28, 2012
