Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryIVY COBB 1918-2012 In her 94th year, Ivy Ellen Cobb passed peacefully with members of her family at her side. Ivy was born October 26, 1918 in Haslemere Sussex, England. She immigrated as an infant to Canada with her parents Tom and Charlotte Meadley and they settled in the Kaleida District of Manitoba. She received her education in the Kaleida school and later worked as postmistress in LaRiviere, Manitoba. On November 11, 1944 she married Earl Cobb and together they owned and operated their family business in Kaleida until retiring in 1987. That year, they sold their house and moved to the Manitou Kinsmen Haven where Ivy resided for 23 years. She was predeceased by her husband Earl in July of 1999. In April, 2010 she moved to the Pembina Manitou Health Centre and this April, she was moved to Salem House in Winkler, Manitoba where she resided until her passing. In addition to assisting her husband in the operation of their business, Ivy was a member of St. Mary's Anglican Women's League Auxiliary and served for many years as a columnist in The Western Canadian Manitou's weekly newspaper - reporting on news and events in Kalieda. Ivy was also active in ladies curling, but most of all, she enjoyed hosting and entertaining her numerous daily visitors, none of whom ever left without a generous helping of coffee or tea and a cookie. Ivy always enjoyed spending time with her friends and family and took pride in their accomplishments. In particular, she was very proud of her grandchildren and great-grandson. Ivy is survived by: her sister Violet (John) Riel; her children Brian (Lucy) Cobb, Bonnie (Art) Hart, and Grant (Alicia) Cobb; her grandchildren Tamara (and Darryl) Pisio, Tyler (Julienne) Cobb, Bryce and Jared Hart, Madison and Chloe Cobb; her great-grandson, Nathan Pisio; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the staff at Salem Home and the Pembina Manitou Health Centre for the care conveyed to Ivy during her stay at each facility. In addition, a very heartfelt thank-you to Charlene Moores as well as Neil and Barb McLean for the unending and generous friendship they conveyed over so many years. An Anglican Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 8, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the St. Andrew's United Church in Manitou, Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Manitou Cemetery Committee, the Manitou Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion or a charity of your choice. My sympathies to Brian, Bonnie and families. We appreciated Ivy's humour and sense of fun when visiting our Mom at the Haven, and later in Manitou Personal Care. With deepest sympathy, Judy - Posted by: Judy Cruise nee Cavers (acquaintance through my mother, Florence Cavers) on: Jun 04, 2012
