Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDR. RICHARD TAPPER It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Shane Tapper on May 19, 2012 at the age of 35. Richard is survived by his loving wife Lauren, son Gabriel, parents Bernie and Leya, sister Heather (Jeff) Koplovich, nieces Anna and Addison and nephew Aaron, in-laws Alvin and Debbie Goldsman and brother-in-law Aaron Goldsman, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. Richard was born on February 9, 1977 in Winnipeg and attended Talmud Torah and graduated from Joseph Wolinsky Collegiate. In 1998, Richard graduated from the University of Winnipeg with a Bachelor of Sciences Degree. He then graduated in 2002 from Southern California University of Health Science, formally known as Los Angeles College of Chiropractic. Richard opened Tapper Chiropractic one year later, and quickly built a thriving practice. He loved being a Chiropractor, and he loved educating family, friends, and patients about health and wellness. At the end of every adjustment, Richard would send his patients off with his inspiring words, the power is on . Richard truly lived the lifestyle he taught. Richard traveled the world, and most of all, he had a great love for Israel. He was a huge sports fan especially when it came to the Winnipeg Jets and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Richard was an active member of the Jewish community with particularly fond memories of Camp Massad where he spent many summers. He truly loved community service work and contributed both financially and with his time. Richard was committed to making philanthropy a part of his life. He was involved with the Jewish Federation of Winnipeg, serving as a board member, and participated in the Jewish Foundation of Manitoba's Endowment Book of Life. He was a third year member of JFNA's National Young Leadership Cabinet and the first member of the NYL Cabinet from Winnipeg in 20 years. He served as president of the Chiropractic Division of the United Way and received an international award for his work at the Siloam Mission. Richard's funeral took place on Monday, May 21, 2012 at Congregation Etz Chayim with interment at the Hebrew Sick Cemetery. Pallbearers were, Dr. Gerald Olin, Dr. Allan Cogan, Joel Cogan, Paul Chodiker, Dr. Coby Ludwig and Aaron Goldsman. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Christian Chatz, Dr. Jordan Hochman, and Dr. Alan Schafer. Those wishing to honour Richard may make a donation to the Jewish Federation of Winnipeg to help build a structure in Richard's memory at Camp Massad.

My husband was first introduced to Dr. Tapper at a kiosk at a shopping mall. He had some sort of test performed at that time and we were to go to Dr. Tapper's office to hear a presentation and get results a few days later. Dr. Tapper seemed very passionate about his work and about his desire to help others with whatever was ailing them. I myself very rarely visit chiropractors although there is no specific reason that I don't. I can say, however, that Dr. Tapper did his utmost to help my husband with his chronic back and neck pain, and Dr. Tapper's positive outlook was a kind of therapy in and of itself. Having exhausted all traditional methods of pain relief, my husband decided again to consult a chiropractor, and with a recommendation from a co-worker to see Dr. Olin for the first time today (Monday, July 21, 2014) and he was informed, who in turn notified me of Dr. Tapper's death. We both appreciated his positive outlook, and his intense desire to help people, he was a man deserving of a long and happy life and had so much more to give. Our thoughts are with his loved ones. - Posted by: Erin McCuaig-Parker (spouse of former patient) on: Jul 21, 2014

I started going to the chiropractor just after "Doc" turned 30. We joked that now he was truly a man. He was kind and listened and explained anything you needed. We would bump into each other every now and then, the last being shortly after his baby was born. Sadly I was not aware of his passing until today, February 6, 2014, when I was on my way to see a surgeon regarding a growth on my colon. This got me talking to my chiropractor (whose place I was at just before the surgery). One of those weird moments when you think about someone and ask the other chiro if he knew "Doc". He told me Richard had died. At first I thought he must be mistaken, only a few years ago I had seen him looking so healthy and beaming about his wife and child. Not until I came home and looked this up did it become real. I am so sorry...to his wife and child, his parents, relatives and friends. He was an inspirational man. Heaven has gained a wonderful soul. Peace. - Posted by: Nancy McNaughton (Patient / friend) on: Feb 06, 2014

I worked with Richard at the Ticker News Network. Before he left for Los Angeles (or that's where he said he was going) Very fun guy to work with. Incredibly trusting too. Whenever one of use went to 7-11 he would give us his debit card and pin#. All of us were amazed he would do that but he was just a very trusting, honest fellow. So sorry to hear of his passing. Many laughs in the short period of time I worked with him. - Posted by: dave sims (brief co-worker) on: Jan 15, 2013

I met Richard as a client, very professional, I trusted him with my whole family, he fixed my lower back and neck troubles, truly he saved my quality of life. My wife had headaches her whole life and after just one year of treatments she enjoyed a new life without the headaches or migraines. Tracy my wife though he was a god send. Then I entered into a business creating posture perfect pillows, he was instrumental in the testing and could not thank him enough. Over the years we developed a friendship, one that I will never forget. It is with true heartfelt sadness to hear of his passing, he will be missed, but never forgotten. The only solace is that he had his new wife and child in his life. - Posted by: Shawn Kitson (Client / Biz parnter / Friend) on: Jan 04, 2013

First let me express how devastating it was to hear of his passing! When I first met Richard, I was his first patient in his new office here in Winnipeg. I was cleaning his office and getting it ready and he stopped in to lock up. I had had such a terrible headache all day and he said, hang on. He had me sit on a chair and one crank to the left and one to the right and I've never suffered headaches since. I was always grateful to him. What a tragedy to lose such a decent, kind, giving, and humble man. My deepest sympathy to Bernie & Leya & to the whole entire family! :( - Posted by: Sharon Howard (Known him and his family for years) on: Jun 04, 2012
