BENJAMIN JOHAN MUNS Peacefully, after a lengthy illness we announce the passing of Ben on May 30, 2012 in Winnipeg at the age of 81 years. He was predeceased by his son Ronald, parents Benjamin and Agatha, brothers Jan and Piet and his sister Belia Gulserian. Ben leaves behind his love of his life his wife Dieuwertje Diny , his sons Ben Muns and Rudolf (Pat) Muns, and his daughters Belia (Mike) Muns and Dini (Gary) Morris and all his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his brother Wimm (U.S.A.) and his sisters Agatha Bruinewood (Netherlands) and Tiny Hogendorn (Netherlands). Ben was born on February 12, 1931 in The Hague, Netherlands. In his youth Ben joined the Royal Dutch Navy and was posted in Indonesia. He married Diny on January 15, 1953. They immigrated to Canada in 1957 with their three little boys. His daughters were born here in Canada and he worked many jobs to support his large family. He spent 21 years working for the St. James Assiniboia School Division in maintenance, after which he retired to live at the cottage/home in St. Laurent. Dad loved his cottage and took special pride in his garden and his projects. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and being outdoors. We would like to thank the 3rd floor staff of Oakview Nursing Home for all their compassion and care during his days there. A private family service will take place at a later date. Donations in Ben's memory can be made to a charity of your choice.
