It is with great sadness to hear of Joan's passing. She was such a great lady. She was always laughing and smiling. She had a wit about her, that kept a lot of the male staff at the Legislative Building on their toes. She will be missed dearly. My deepest condolences to her daughter and family. My condolences to Joan's family. Having known Joan for quite a few years I had the pleasure of working with her at the Legislative building as a cleaner previous to my retirement. Joan always had a smile for everyone & her laughter could be heard throughout the hallways at work. She had an extremely joyful personality & it was a pleasure just to spend some time in her company. Each year government services had a fishing derby & my family had the pleasure of being able to pick her up & spend the day together fishing on the red river at Selkirk. I will miss you Joan, you will be remembered by many, including myself, as this is all we can ask, that you were able to touch peoples hearts & make a difference in other peoples lifetime on earth. You are in God's company now, keeping everyone smiling in the heavens above. I shall cherish our moments that we shared together for as long as I shall live. I first met Mrs. Watson in the staff room at Kildonan East Collegiate in the late 80s or early 90s. We always talked as if we'd known each other for quite a while. This was a very comfortable relationship and I came to respect her views and opinions. I was, therefore, very pleased to see her on a daily basis when both she and I found ourselves at John Henderson Jr. High. We continued our friendship and our daily conversations always made me treasure her the more. I appreciated her far beyond what my words can convey. Yes, her Roti were out of this world. I stock-piled them in the freezer and think that there might still be one more parcel that I have missed. I have never tasted better nor do I expect that I ever will. Joan was a very loyal and treasured friend and I regret that I will not see her welcoming smile, ever again, on this side of the veil. I would look out of my classroom window, waiting to see her walk over to the school from the bus stop, just so I could talk to her for a while. I believe that she did endure to the end and will be well-received by our Heavenly Father. - Posted by: Doug Sparkes (Proud to say that Joan was a friend of mine) on: Jun 07, 2012

I worked at the Legislative Building in Room 42 and Joan was one of our cleaners and she was the most delightful, bubbly, happy go lucky person and we quickly formed a friendship. Then I found out about Joan's magnificent Roti - well I took orders for her and the Staff in Room 42 were very happy with their Roti!! I went away to Kuwait for 3 years and when I came back - I popped into the Leg and who did I see but Joan.......... she came over to me and gave me the most wonderful hug and said "damn girl - where you bin and you look terrific. You look younger. That was Joan for you - she always had a smile, a story and warmth and friendship to give to me and others around her. Joan dear - your earthly life is over - but the essence of you will always be with us. Blessings and light to you my friend. Jacquie Hayward - Posted by: Jacquie Hayward (Friend) on: Jun 07, 2012
