Date of Passing: Jun 06, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGARET ELAINE HANDZIUK (nee FAY) Margaret Elaine Handziuk passed away on Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at the age of 63. Margaret had a positive spirit and determined attitude that touched many people. As a young woman she enjoyed swimming, travel and being outdoors. Margaret worked as a dental hygienist and especially loved her role teaching dental hygiene at the University of Manitoba until she could no longer work. She lived courageously with Multiple Sclerosis for 30 years. In 2000, Margaret moved to Oakbank and was embraced by the community and Oakbank United Church. She looked forward to attending Sunday services where she always had a quick response for anyone who greeted her. Margaret's greatest pride was her family. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Craig Everett, as well as her grandchildren Kate, Brooke and Reed. We wish to thank all the wonderful care providers Margaret had through her life. She deeply respected and was grateful for the exceptional care of Dr. Gwen Kalansky during some of her most challenging years. The staff and awesome volunteer group at Kin Place Personal Care Home in Oakbank became friends and created a home for Margaret for the past 12 years. Thank you to her friends Marnie, Sylvia and Pam for their letters, flowers and visits. A memorial service celebrating Margaret's life will take place Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. at Oakbank United Church, 582 Balsam Cres. Cremation has taken place and a private interment will follow on a later date at Thomson "In the Park."

I met Margaret in 1984 at the Winnipeg Folklorama. Margaret was a very nice person. And memorable. I have not forgotten her in 36 years. - Posted by: Russ Pigors (Friend) on: Aug 14, 2020

I remember Margaret as a fun, free spirited woman. She had a wonderful sense of humor, a laugh that made you want to join in. I am sorry to hear of her passing but I feel sure that she is having fun making mischief and dancing in heaven! - Posted by: Chris Milloy (Friend) on: Jun 09, 2012
