My heartfelt condolences to the family of Alvin Kelly. When I was working at Aspen Lodge, your father lived there. I loved when I had the time to sit down and chat with him. He thought that it was so cool that my husband was really from Africa- Cameroon. He wrote the greatest poems, one that I still treasure. It tells about the meat being too tough. But when he complains, he gets passed to the butcher, the farmer and finally the cow. During the building of the new residence, he showed me a huge hill of soil near the construction, and he took joy in the changes of this hill. He loved the way that Mother Nature was reclaiming it and he asked me to take a picture of it for him. In this age of digital photography, it took a long time for me to give him a copy, but he knew I would get it to him. I will always remember "Alvin's Hill" and he has a special place in my heart. Again, my condolences to his family. - Posted by: Ellen Bessala (I was a cook at Aspen Lidge in Calgary) on: Jun 25, 2012
