Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMAE EDITH MOIST (nee LAILEY) 1925 - 2012 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mae Moist, at the Health Sciences Centre, on Sunday, June 10, 2012 at the age of 86 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her children David (Marlene), Brian (Leila), Paul (Marion), Leslie (Terry), Barbara (Brian) and Kevin (Lisa), along with 18 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 61 years, Lloyd, on May 16, 2012, also by her parents William and Mary, and by siblings George, Joe, Jean and Doreen. Mae was born and raised in Winnipeg. She graduated from St. Mary's Academy and was employed at Canada Safeway and Great-West Life Assurance Company. She was an active volunteer throughout her life at the Laura Secord Home and School Association, the Fire Fighters' Museum of Winnipeg and at Blessed John XXIII Parish. On June 3, 1950 Mae and her beloved husband Lloyd were married. The Roman Catholic Church was an important part of her entire life; she was an active parishioner at St. Edward's Church, St. Mary's Cathedral and finally at Blessed John XXIII Parish. Mae devoted her entire life to the love and care of her family. She took an active role in supporting her husband in his long and distinguished career as a Winnipeg Firefighter. As well she was involved in all of her children's pursuits and was front and center for all holidays, birthdays, graduations, and weddings. In short, everything centered on her children and grandchildren. A celebration of Mae's life will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. in Blessed John XXIII Roman Catholic Church, 3390 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, with Rev. Msgr. Maurice Comeault presiding. The family is very grateful to the dedicated staff on Ward GA4, Health Sciences Centre and to the very devoted staff of W.R.H.A. Home Care Services, all of whom provided excellent care to Mom. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that a donation be made to Blessed John XXIII Parish, 3390 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3K 0Z3 ( Sharing God's Gifts ), or to Winnipeg Harvest, 1085 Winnipeg Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0S2.
