HELEN SHUEL (nee SWETZ) It is with great sadness our family announces the passing of our cherished mother, loving grandma, and caring great-grandma, Helen Shuel on June 11, 2012, at the Polson Extended Care Unit in Vernon, BC. She went peacefully with her granddaughter Kimmy by her side. Helen will be lovingly remembered by her children Larry (Judie) Shuel, Raymond Shuel, and Flo (Mike) Andrushko, grandchildren Darrell (Nicole) Shuel, Kim (Ralph) Foster and Lori (John) Howe and great-grandchildren Candice, Tia, Sedona, Georgia and Andrew. Helen was predeceased by her mother and father Joseph and Rosalia Swetz, her husband Dan Shuel and all of her brothers and sisters. Helen was born in Landerville District just outside of Lac du Bonnet, Manitoba, on September 30, 1918. She grew up mainly on her parents farm and enjoyed milking the cows. Helen married Dan on November 10, 1935, and had three children. They owned several different businesses in and around Winnipeg before settling in Transcona for their retirement. Before Helen retired she worked at the Sharon Home in housekeeping. She loved working there and didn't retire until she was 75 years of age. Once retired she tended to her vegetable garden and all her flowers. Her favorite time of year was strawberry season because the weather was perfect and she loved strawberries. Helen moved to Enderby 12 years ago and has enjoyed the sunshine, mild winters and having her family close by. The family wishes to thank the Vernon and area home care staff, Parkview Place staff and Polson Special staff for their wonderful care and patience they provided for Helen in her final months. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 22, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Wheeler Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St., Winnipeg (Transcona). Luncheon to follow then interment at Eastdale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Helen's memory to the Eastdale Cemetery. Helen, you will be lovingly remembered and forever in our hearts. Rest in peace, love from your family. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family at www.MyAlternatives.ca. Arrangements entrusted to ALTERNATIVES FUNERAL CREMATION SERVICES Armstrong 250-546-7237 Vernon 250-558-0866
