MAVIS BURR Peacefully on June 7, 2012, with family at her bedside, Mavis passed away at Grace Hospital at the age of 83. Mavis will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her children Beverley (Tom) Leach and Murray (Susan) Burr, her grandchildren, Jessica, Kari, Megan and Jennifer, her greatgrandson, Riley, and her brother Dennis McQuade. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Ken, in 2004 Mavis worked at the Canadian Wheat Board in her younger years and later went on, with her husband Ken, to own and operate the Art Craft Shop in Clear Lake, MB, for 26 years. Mavis loved her many friends, she loved to travel and for many years was an active member of the Daughters of the Nile. She enjoyed her time in the choir and was a lifelong member of the United Church. Mavis always had a special soft spot for all the family dogs. The family would like to thank the many nurses, aides and therapists on 3 North for their loving and supportive care during Mom's lengthy stay at the Grace Hospital In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cerebral Palsy Association of Manitoba, 105 - 500 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3C 3X1 Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 27 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. Mavis you were such a special person in our neighbourhood. You shared many stories and laughs with us on your front porch. Stories about the neighbourhood (and how you and Ken were the first ones here), about your family and grandchildren, Clear Lake, your times with the Shriners, so on and so on.....stories we will treasure.
