Born: Sep 01, 1945
Date of Passing: Jun 02, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARIE WINNIFRED PARSONS (PEARSON) Saturday, June 2, 2012, at the age of 66, with her family by her side Marie peacefully slipped away at the Ste. Rose du Lac hospital. Marie is survived by her husband Francis Parsons, daughter Samantha (Roger) of Pierre, SD, son Shawn (Lisa) of St. Pierre, MB, grandchildren Savannah of Rapid City, SD and Cody of Pierre, SD, brother Bob (Sophia) Pearson of Saskatoon, SK and her nephews and nieces, and brothers and sisters-in-law. Marie was born September 1, 1945 in Winnipeg, MB. She was adopted by Sven and Eva Pearson of Sheridan, MB. Her family then moved to Lynn Lake, MB where she was raised and educated. Marie was very proud of her heritage as her mother was from Norway and her father was from Sweden. She passed many Scandinavian traditions down to her children and grandchildren. When she was young she travelled extensively. Marie also played the piano. What talent she had! In 1966 she moved to Amaranth, MB where she met the love of her life, Francis. They were married April 2, 1968 at Portage la Prairie. After a few years of travelling and acquiring a registered quarter horse, Dusty Shoes, and two registered Siamese cats they settled down in Amaranth where she raised her family. Marie loved her animals especially her horses and cats. She always said she wasn't a dog person but she always had two or three dogs in the house. She was very proud of their herd of Black Angus cattle. She enjoyed gardening, loved music and played the organ at the United Church in Amaranth. She looked forward to gatherings where she played the piano, sang and used her good dishes. Marie was an avid reader with a huge collection of books. She was proud of Savannah and Cody who spent many enjoyable summers with their grandparents. Marie never asked for anything from anyone. She was also very appreciative of anything she was given. She loved to visit and the coffee was always on and you never went away hungry. You might even go home with farm fresh eggs. We would like to thank the medical staff of Ste. Rose du Lac hospital for their kindness. Also thank you to the friends and family who have been there through the years to help, especially in the last few years. Cremation has taken place. A service was held at the farm in Amaranth June 5, 2012. The family gives a special thank you to the Reverend Phyllis Thordarson for officiating. We love you Mum and you will be greatly missed.

I'll miss my grandmother very much, I never got to say good bye as I was 9 months pregnant with her great-grandchild Trayden. My greatest memory of my grandma will always be making cookies every summer for grandpa. I know she's in a better place now but I'll never be able to make cookies again without being reminded of her. - Posted by: Savannah Witte (Grand daughter) on: Jun 18, 2012
