ERICA KREMPLER (SAWATZKY)
Date of Passing: Jun 19, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryERICA KREMPLER (nee SAWATZKY) October 29, 1939 - June 19, 2012 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Erica Krempler at the Stonewall hospital on June 19, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. She will be sadly missed by her husband Archie Delorme, son Reinhart Krempler, her siblings Ben (Mary), Jake, George, John (Sara), Irene (Gerry), Victor (Anne), Elsie (Bill), Louie (Nancy), Emmy (Ron), Hedy, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Erica was born in Gnadenthal, Manitoba to Bernhard and Margaret Sawatzky and baptized in the Blumenorter Mennonite Church. She received her education in Gnadenthal, MCI in Gretna, and took her teacher training at Normal School in Winnipeg. Her first assignment was to teach primary grades at Reinland, then a one room school at Dacotah. After a year of more education at United College, it was on to teach at Victoria Albert then retiring from teaching in 1999 at Gladstone School where she absolutely loved teaching the Grade four class. She was a very dedicated teacher and devoted to her students' education. In 2000, she started an enjoyable second career as a cook at Nethercutt Lodge on beautiful Lake of the Woods where Archie worked on maintenance. This career was cut short by sudden health problems in 2007. After somewhat recovering from that, Erica was diagnosed with cancer in March of 2011 and has battled it since. After living in Winnipeg on Stiles St. for many years (where many people enjoyed the flower garden on her corner lot on Wolseley) ,Erica and Archie purchased an acreage near Stonewall. This was her dream, to be able to enjoy the beauty and solitude of country living and indulge her passion for flowers and nature, which she enjoyed to the end. We would like to thank Dr. Lotocki and his team and St. Boniface CancerCare, Dr. Graham and the doctors and nurses at Stonewall Hospital, and a special thanks to the Home Care team, especially Michelle, Lianne, Verna, Jean, and Marilyn. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Erica's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, 433 Main St., Stonewall, MB. Deepest condolences to you, Archie, and to all of Erica's siblings. Though I did not see much of Erica in later years, I knew her as an older sister while we lived with her parents. She rests in peace. Those whom we love and lose are no longer where they were before. They are now wherever we are - St. John Chrysostom.
