LILLIAN MARIE MCCARTHY 1922 - 2012 On June 7, 2012 surrounded by family, Mum passed away peacefully at Health Sciences Centre following complications of a fall. She was two months shy of her 90th birthday. Mum was born (on August 15, 1922) and raised in Saskatchewan. She met a dashing young airman, Steve McCarthy, stationed in Yorkton, who would become her best friend and husband of 52 years. Mum and dad soon moved from Yorkton, Saskatchewan with their young family to Winnipeg. From the arrival of her own children to becoming Granny - family was always a priority for Mum. Although she said Kids should come with instructions , she seemed to know what those were, as she was a wonderful mother, household manager, and a delighted and delightful grandmother after the arrival of grandchildren. Mum was predeceased by our dad Stephen McCarthy in 2001. She is survived by daughters Pat (Bill) and Lynne (Claude) and grandchildren Geoffrey and Andrea. Thanks to special friends Paul and Eleanor and a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful staff and caregivers at Misericordia Place. In keeping with Mum's wishes cremation has taken place and our family will celebrate her life privately.
