JAMIE WALLACE MCNABB On Monday, June 18, 2012, at the age of 49, our Jamie passed away with his loved ones by his side at St. Boniface Hospital after a long and courageous battle against Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor (GIST). Jamie will be heart wrenchingly missed by his wife and soul mate Rosy; five beautiful children David, Randi, James, Cole and Cyle. He will be deeply missed by his mother Marion; sister Elaine and husband Neil; brother Charlie and wife Darlene; brother Clark and wife Sherrie; along with many nieces and nephews and their families. His presence will be terribly missed by his best friend Nash. Jamie will be remembered for his gentle soul, his kind heart and his amazing dimples. He was predeceased by his father Mac and his mother-in-law Hilda Lizak. On October 5, 1962, Jamie was born in Shoal Lake, Manitoba. He grew up on a peaceful, sun kissed farm in Minnedosa, Manitoba, playing hockey for hours on the frozen slough out front. He always enjoyed taking road trips out to Minnedosa to visit his family and the farm house he grew up in. Jamie started his career with ABCO Supply Service Ltd. on October 5, 1980, as a steamfitter apprentice with the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union 254. After he became a journeyman steamfitter, he worked hard throughout his career and in 2000 he became the Vice President of ABCO. Throughout the years Jamie had been involved with many associations within the construction industry. He has been on the board of The Mechanical Contractors Association of Manitoba (MCAM), Winnipeg Construction Association (WCA), recently The Canadian Construction Association and was appointed as the Vice-Chairman of the Construction Labour Relation Association of Manitoba (CLRAM). Jamie has volunteered countless hours to committees on behalf of the construction industry he was so very proud of. As a member of these associations, he had been very influential in shaping Manitoba's Construction Industry's overall labour relations landscape. Even with all of these amazing work accomplishments, one of the highlights of Jamie's life was simply driving the kids to and from their sports games and cheering proudly from the sidelines. He was an inspiring coach to his own children as well as the numerous kids he impacted along the way. He served as a board member for the Charleswood Bronco Football Club and did so with pride. Jamie lived and breathed country music. You could always see him toe-tapping in his cowboy boots and singing along to his favourite country tunes. He and Rosy shared a love of live country music performances. They also shared a love for travel, and made a point of making their travel dreams come true. Jamie took the time to make special memories with his kids, going on road trips to Texas, or to the mountains to ski, or even to the rink to go for a skate. His joyous laugh will forever be in the hearts of everyone who knew him. A Celebration of Jamie's Life will be held on Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. in North Kildonan Mennonite Brethren Church, 1315 Gateway Road at Springfield Road. Jamie and Rosy have been blessed to have a wonderful circle of close friends who have been a tremendous support on his GIST journey. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7 or Life Raft Group Canada, http://www.liferaftgroup.ca/donate.html. Honey, I Love You to the Moon and Back.

Wow, it is already October and today I learned of Jamie's passing. I first met Jamie on a construction project many years ago. Jamie was young, articulate, and a very good tradesman with the abilities and skill set that you could see would one day make him a successful business person and influential leader in the industry he was passionate about. It was a pleasure to have known and worked with Jamie on other projects and various committees throughout our lifetime, and am very saddened by the news I heard today and the loss of a terrific person, not for the great things he did in our industry, but the impact he had on fellow workers, peers, and most of all, his family and loved ones. I will always remember the visit I received from Jamie when lying in a hospital bed after a very serious accident, for just a few moments of support, Wow! Thank-you Jamie - Posted by: Rolfe Bergen (friend thru business ) on: Oct 04, 2012

Sorry to Hear of Jamie's passing. I have fond memories of our Foxwarren hockey school days. We travelled to Estevan in 1979, made the team together and became close friends. As the years passes we would get together in Winnipeg or Dauphin Countryfest and all the good ol' stories would come out again. We will miss you "Nabber" Kelly & Heather, Brisbane Australia ( Formerly Brandon Mb.) - Posted by: Kelly & Heather Mathison (Old Hockey Buddy, Estevan Bruins) on: Jun 26, 2012

I have known Jamie (kins) all his life. We always called him 'the cutest kid'. He was such a sweet child with a wonderful infectious laugh. His soft voice that always carried a bubble of laughter never changed. I remember one day, when Jamie was a young child, we were sitting around the kitchen table. Mac was standing at the head of the table by the window holding Jamie in his arms. We were all laughing and robustly chatting as we always do around that table. Jamie lifted his head and let out a huge joyous, heartfelt, deep giggle. His pink dimpled cheeks and shining eyes were hard to resist. We all looked at Jamie and started making adult 'goo-goo' sounds. Jamie would lift his head and laugh again. We laughed with Jamie and kept the game up for quite some time. If we turned our attention away from him for a moment, he would giggle again, which would only make us all look back and laugh some more. I think someone audio-taped that day at the table. I don't remember anything else about that day except dear Jamie in Mac's arms keeping us happily entertained for a long time. I feel very blessed to have known Jamie. - Posted by: Olwyn Keating (Cousin) on: Jun 24, 2012
