MEREL LEMKEY (nee HAMMOND) 1922 - 2012 On June 1, 2012 Merel went to her eternal rest at Salem Home in Winkler, MB. Predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Arnold Lloyd in 1999; parents James Arthur and Mary (nee Sandwith); her sister Bernice; brother Ivan; niece Beverley Squires; sisters-in-law Esther Pappas and Helen; and brothers-in-law Stephy Steffanson, Jake Dyck and Lorne Lemkey. Merel will be missed by her daughter Donna Lumsden (Jack); her brother Les Hammond (Eileen); granddaughter Kathryn Dueck (Paul) and great-grandchildren Zachary and Gillian; sisters-in-law Anne Hammond, Amy Dyck and Jean Lemkey; brother-in-law Hartley (Jo) Lemkey; four nephews and eight nieces. Merel worked at Regency Coin and Stamp latterly until her retirement. She was a cancer survivor. She and Arn enjoyed many summer holidays at Rice Lake, ON at their cabin and she loved a trip to England with her sister Bernice. She looked after her sister with cancer the last two years of her sister's life. Unfortunately dementia took it's course the latter part of Merel's life but she had good care at Salem Home for the last six years and seemed content most days and still enjoyed her family visits, especially her great-grandchildren. A graveside service was held June 4, 2012 according to Merel's wishes.
