Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCHARLES KAZIMIERZ OGIBOWSKI July 1, 1919 - June 25, 2012 It is with great sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved father Charles Ogibowski. Dad passed away on Monday, June 25. 2012, at the age of 92 after a brief illness. His final moments were spent peacefully with his family by his side. Dad was born July 1, 1919, near Thomas Lake, Manitoba. Dad truly loved working on the land. Most of Dad's youth was spent helping his father clear and break land by horses and also helping with other farm chores. The experience served him well. In 1941, Dad enlisted in the Canadian Army. Dad served in the United Kingdom and Central Mediterranean forces with the 11th Army Field Regiment Artillery. Dad saw action in Italy, on the Adriatic and Cassino fronts. Dad was wounded at Cassino and returned to Canada in 1943. Dad married our mother Mary on June 30, 1951. They farmed together near Basswood, Manitoba, until the spring of 1954. After working at various places they eventually settled near Wasagaming, Manitoba where Dad began working for Parks Canada in 1958. Dad continued to work for Parks Canada until May 1979. In 1967, Dad and Mom purchased their own farm near Erickson, Manitoba. His grandchildren still recall the many happy times playing and working with Papa on the farm. Dad and Mom continued to live on the family farm until October 2003, when at that time they moved to Brandon, Manitoba. In August 2008, Dad and Mom moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba, to be closer to their daughter Charlene Lisa and their three grandchildren. Dad loved and was extremely proud of his heritage. In July 1979, he travelled with family to Poland to visit the land of his parents' birth. Dad loved to sing songs of the homeland and did so until his final hours. Dad was a loving, kind and generous soul. He placed his family above everything else. He was always there to provide his love and support. Words cannot express how much we will miss him. You are in our hearts forever papa. Dad is survived by his wife Mary (Wojnarski), his son Lawrence, daughter Charlene Lisa (Cyr), and grandchildren Alexandra, Jessica and Nicholas. Dad was predeceased by his parents Peter and Jesse (Ludwiczynski) Ogibowski, brothers John, Roman, Roger and Joseph Ogibowski, and sister Mary (Cloutier). Funeral mass will take place at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 3, 2012, St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church, 135 John Forsyth Rd. For those who so wish, viewing will commence one hour prior to service. Final resting place will be St. Boniface Cemetery, 917 Archibald St. In lieu of flowers, donations will be kindly accepted to the Alzheimer's Society or a charity of your choice. 586-8044
