DONNA LYNN MCKEE April 28, 1952 - July 1, 2012 Our family is saddened to announce the passing of our mom, daughter, and sister at Health Sciences Centre just over a month after having a cancerous brain tumor operation on May 16, 2012. She is survived by a son Gabriel, her mom Dorothy, sisters Cheryl (Barry) Bigus and Heather (Bill) McEachern, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her brother Kevin in 1975, her dad Don in 2008, her grandparents John and Sadie Bates, and Jim and Elizabeth McKee. Lynn was born April 28, 1952 in Carman Hospital and grew up on the family farm south of Sperling. She went to Sperling School for Grade 1 to 8 and Carman High School for Grade 9 to 12. Lynn went to Sunday School in Sperling United Church and belonged to Explorers and C.G.I.T. She was also in Sperling 4-H sewing club. She loved to sing and play her guitar and sang in duets and trios at concerts and was in the operettas in High School. We'd like to thank the doctors, nurses and support staff that looked after Lynn in Health Sciences Centre. She worked for the federal government for 28 years, at Parks Canada, Revenue Canada and the Department of Agriculture, retiring in 2011. A graveside service will be held at Sperling Cemetery on Friday, July 6, at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Sperling Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or to a charity of one's choice. Doyle's Funeral Home in care of arrangements. www.doylesfuneralchapel.com

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • I look at your picture I see the girl I knew The spirit inside, tempered in time The humour, the music, ever true to yourself Remembered always - Posted by: Heather Dowd (Friend) on: Jul 14, 2012

  • Lynn was one of my closest friends from grade school and through university until I moved away. I will always remember Lynn as she was when I knew her best--a smart, funny, lovely young woman with long dark hair, and a generous heart. Life took us down different roads, and I'm sad that it has taken her passing to remind me of all the good memories. I'm glad that she was in my life. I'm so sorry she's gone. - Posted by: Laurie Webster (Friend) on: Jul 05, 2012

  • My heartfelt condolences go out to Donna's family. She was brilliant and had a great sense of humour. She was a kind, gentle and authentic person as well as a loyal friend who always spoke highly of her family, especially of her son Gabe. Donna, you will be missed by all of us who were lucky enough to know you. - Posted by: Paulette Vincent (Co-worker, Agriculture Canada) on: Jul 04, 2012

  • It is very sad news to hear of Donna's passing. She was a very kind and generous friend. Our close knit unit always enjoyed her dry wit and humorous poems she would come up with. My deepest sympathies go out to her family and, her son, Gabe, who she loved with all her heart and spoke of often. Rest in peace, Donna. - Posted by: Sue Ingleton (Friend/former co-worker) on: Jul 04, 2012
