Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDEREK WADE MITCHELL It is with sadness the family announces the passing of Derek, our beloved husband, father and grandfather on July 2, 2012 at Riverview Health Centre at the age of 53 years. Besides his loving husband John Borger, he is survived by son Chris John Cory (Jennifer) and grandchildren Rose and Harly. He also leaves to mourn brothers and sisters Joyce Dupuis (Darrell), Ken Mitchell (Cindy), Maureen Fryza (Tom), Randell Mitchell (Linda), Greg Mitchell (Robynne), Odette Borg (Bob), William Mitchell (Joanne) and many nieces and nephews. Derek was predeceased by his parents Loren and Alma Mitchell, brother Gary, and sister Beverly. Derek was born in Anola, MB on January 4, 1959 and attended McDavid School, Anola School and Springfield Collegiate. He worked at Borland Construction until retiring in 2000. Upon retirement he enjoyed travelling the world and attending the opera at the Bastille in Paris, Luceo in Barcelona and the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aries. His happiest times where those spent with his grandchildren Rose and Harly. The family would like to thank the staff of GH 4 at the Health Sciences Centre. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 6 at 2:00 p.m., with viewing prior to service, at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. at Inkster with interment at a later date in Monominto Cemetery near Anola, MB. Pallbearers will be Steven Borger, Colin Fryza, Lyle Fryza, Ryan Mitchell, Jason Mitchell and Jamie Mitchell. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Derek's memory to Camp Arnes. I want to offer my deepest condolences to John and Derek's entire family. I just heard and am deeply saddened at this fine man's passing. I will never forget Derek's wry wit, intelligent perspective; all tempered with a gentle nature. Upon meeting Derek and John, I had the privilege of having my horizons broadened to the beauty of tolerance and acceptance. This impact has stayed with me throughout my life and has made me a better person and father. I want Derek's immediate family to know that he will never be forgotten.
