JOYCE SHIRLEY MCPHERSON (nee FRANKLIN) With deep sadness we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend on July 4, 2012. Joyce was born October 22, 1924, second youngest child of Verner and Myrtle Franklin. Joyce was predeceased by her parents, her husband Douglas (1991), her brothers Gordon (1960), Lloyd (1978), and her sisters Kay Bailey (2004) and Beverley Tinney (January 2012). Joyce is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Sandy and Allison of Tottenham, Ontario, son Bill of Winnipeg, daughter and son-in-law Candice and Greg Smith of Winnipeg and her beloved grandsons Scott and Graham Smith, and Douglas and Alexander McPherson. Joyce is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who she loved very much. Joyce spent her life in St. James until marrying Douglas McPherson on September 3, 1946. Joyce had many friends from her days working at Eaton's and Canada Revenue Agency that she continued to keep in touch with. She always enjoyed time with friends and looked forward to the card games at 1310 Archibald and the Prendergast Seniors and her dinners and card games with her friends from C.R.A. She was a family person. One of her favourite sayings was the apple doesn't fall far from the tree . Her children and grandchildren were her life but she never lost touch with Doug's family or any of her cousins, nieces and nephews. Family celebrations whether for baby showers, birthdays, weddings or end of life meant a great deal to her as they were an occasion for family to get together. The family would like to thank all the wonderful staff at The Grace Hospice for the love and caring they showed Joyce and family over the past three months. Joyce loved flowers but her wish is that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Friends Housing, 100 - 890 Sturgeon Rd., Winnipeg, MB R2Y 0L2. A celebration of Joyce's life will take place 3:00 p.m., Monday, July 9 at Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald. Seasons Funeral Chapel - OakBank
