Very sad to hear about Eddie's passing. I shared many a coffees (instant was his favourite) listening to his stories and Ernest Tubb as we were neighbors for about 2.5 yrs. I remember bringing him a Randy Travis "Storms of Life" LP to listen to and ended up leaving it for him as it really resonated with him. It reminded him of Tubb. He fixed a few of my guitars, and convinced me to shed my Ovation for something of more quality. Great guy and although I just heard of his passing now as I had lost contact , will alway carry fond memories of Eddie. Rest well ol' buddy you're now jamming with you idols - Posted by: Cal Popoff () on: Mar 09, 2016

Eddy was a very generous and entertaining person. I met him through a mutual friend when I was about twenty years old and he sold me my first halfway decent electric guitar. Over the years Eddy became a great resource for me and many other young musicians... I was very sad to hear the news of his passing. - Posted by: Greg MacPherson (friend) on: Sep 10, 2014

Having met the Laham family and stayed in their residence in the early 1950s, I feel like an almost member of the family. Eddie was a good friend to many and especially to Gord Henriksen. I hope they are leading the party together now. You will be missed, old buddy. - Posted by: Joy Harper ( widow 0f Wilfred) (Old, old friend) on: Jul 19, 2012

The previous comments pretty much say almost the same feelings I had for Eddy. Always a good story or joke on hand. A cup of coffee always on the ready in his kitchen, & I always felt welcome at his home. He also helped me procure many great guitars over the years. You will be missed ol' Buddy! - Posted by: Rudy Kessen (Friend) on: Jul 08, 2012

Eddy had a profound effect on the music scene in Winnipeg. He was a natural-born entertainer and loved to perform -- on or off stage. He had a million stories about gigs and entertainers. He encouraged young upcoming musicians and was always willing to pass on advice. I knew Eddy for more than 40 years and have many fond memories of his 'road stories' He will be missed, but not soon forgotten. He was 'one of a kind' My condolences to his family. - Posted by: Glenn MacRae (friend) on: Jul 07, 2012

Eddy: singer, guitar player and one of one of Winnipeg's unforgettable "characters" whose presence enhanced the music scene. 1957, standing in front of Hamerton's music store on Fort Street. Looking south on Fort I could see a figure carrying a guitar case and wearing a very large cowboy hat. As he got closer I could see the fancy Western clothes. It was Eddy heading for a gig at the old Dominion Theatre western hour. RIP old friend, I'll miss you. - Posted by: Owen Clark (Friend) on: Jul 07, 2012

ED GAVE ME MY FIRST START IN MUSIC. CAME TO MY HOUSE WITH A FRIEND AND I GOT HOOKED INTO MUSIC WAY BACK IN 1950. HE HAD A DEEP VOICE AND ERNEST TUBB WERE HIS IDOLS AND SANG LIKE HIM. HE ALSO WORKED WITH WPG. PIANO AND SOLD ME MY GUITARS AND AMPS.HE WAS ONE OF A KIND AND SAD TO SEE HIM GO. I WILL ALWAYS BE GRATEFUL FOR GIVING ME MY START IN MUSIC WHICH I'M STILL DOING TODAY AT THE TENDER AGE OF 76 - Posted by: GERRY PELLAND (LONGTIME FRIEND) on: Jul 07, 2012
