Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPHYLLIS AMOS (nee SCOTT) Sadly, we regret to inform you of Phyllis' passing in the arms of her nieces on June 27, 2012. A much loved sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Phyllis was born in Boissevain, Manitoba on May 26, 1924, the second of five children. She was predeceased by her parents: Russell George and Margaret Irene (nee Donley), and sister, Shirley Thompson (nee Scott). Phyllis is survived by siblings; Margaret Murchison, George Scott, Dorothy Scott, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Phyllis chose a teaching career at an early age, which encompassed many different locations: starting in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Northern Ontario and settling in Toronto. In addition, her teachings brought her to London, England; Ethiopia and China. Phyllis was a world traveler; there wasn't much of the world that Phyllis hadn't left her footprints. She was considered to be an inspiration to her many students. A memorial service was recently held in Toronto, with a private family service to be held in Boissevain at a later date. The family would like to thank - Maria for her years of dedication and friendship; Joyce for administering health care and friendship, Gail who was always there for her - our sincere gratitude, we can never thank you enough; the Coates'- five generations of unending dedication and friendship over the years, Smart Staffing (Toronto), Toronto Grace-Complex Continuing Care staff; and Christie Gardens Palliative Care staff. Phyllis was a true humanitarian, and in keeping with her generous nature, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

I am both relieved and sad to find your posting, after two cards had been returned to me. Phyllis and I were great mates at Crosby Hall in the late 60s and met in various parts of the world after. She visited me in Australia and we shared many happy times. I will remember her with great affection. - Posted by: Christina Cheers (Friend from days at Crosby Hall, London) on: May 20, 2013

I always enjoyed talking to Phyllis about the countries she had traveled to. Especially when we had travelled to the same countries. - Posted by: Lois Abbott (Friend) on: Jul 20, 2012

Mrs Amos taught me in grade 6 at King George School, Kenora, Ontario, many years ago. She gave me a love for reading that continued throughout my life. A very lovely, gracious woman and a wonderful teacher. - Posted by: Joanne (Campbell) Brennan (former student) on: Jul 15, 2012
