Condolences & Memories (8 entries)

  • Bill and Norma! The two of them would walk into the bank and light up the entire place. Or they would make a call from down south and ask for some banking to be done. Hearing all the MANY adventures they had in Disney and about their friends down there was music to my ears. We grew a deep liking for each other. I was like their adopted family member. We would go for random lunch dates and chat up a store, or I would go to their home for tea and go through countless albums of photos and collector items. I went to the spaghetti factory a handful of times with them and ate with their daughter Cheryl and Deja. I also went to Cheryl's home for dinner one evening as well. I felt so warm and welcomed by everyone. I loved seeing their awards for gymnastics and swimming. They were a great pair. Such passion, love and joy not only for each other but the things they shared and loved. I had moved to Toronto when I got the call that Norma had passed :( He called and we talked for a long time :( Then I moved to Victoria. Every birthday and Christmas I was never let down in finding a Mickey card, sent with love. Then I got crazy and had three kids and things got really busy. He's been on my mind for quite some time. Tonight I actually went looking for him :( I am heartbroken he is no longer with us. Cheryl, Deja and family I send you my deepest sympathies. He was a good man. I'm sorry I didn't get to say goodbye. I will cherish every conversation we had and smile knowing they both made a lasting impression on so many people. I wanna be just like them when I grow old... much love. always...may you rest in paradise and we meet again.. until then xxoo - Posted by: Cherie LaBrash (Personal Bank Teller / Friend) on: Mar 06, 2014

  • Bill befriended me when I needed a friend and helped me gain self confidence. He generously invited me into his home for a meal now and then and introduced me to his lovely family. He taught me how to dive. I have thought of him often over the years. It saddens me that he is gone. - Posted by: John Neufeld (Friend, co-worker (at UGG) and diving student at the Pan Am Pool) on: Mar 13, 2013

  • Met Bill and Norma because of a World Chapter meeting in Florida near Disney World -- spent many magical hours with them both sharing our love for all things Disney. Have many memories of the laughs and spending a few Easters with them. - Posted by: Dot Mikus (Friend) on: Feb 22, 2013

  • I loved your radio shows on CKUW. You had a great manner... "comfortable in your own skin" is a great description for you. I hope I grow old with grace and dignity as you did, good sir. I regret never having the opportunity to meet you. But, for now... I shall be sure to "march around the dinner table" in your honour every now and then with my little girl in hand laughing all the way. Rest in peace, Bill. - Posted by: Tony Kitzky (listener) on: Aug 02, 2012

  • Dad, I really struggled with your request for a brief notice in the paper. You were such a truly great Father, Grandfather, and friend to so many. You lived each day to the fullest and accomplishd so much in your lifetime. I am thankful for the time we spent together in the last few months. You are in my thoughts every day, and will be in my heart forever. - Posted by: Cheryl Saathof (Daughter) on: Jul 24, 2012

  • I met Mr. Lesack at CKUW during Fundrive one year. He was a gent for sure. At another CKUW event, at a pub, we chatted over beer...not sure if Bill had a beer, but it seemed like he did. I listened to him on air as often as possible and always found him to be a bit chatty, but wonderful nonetheless...He was wise and funny, and he was comfortable in his own skin. He will be missed. - Posted by: Jeff Monk (Friend) on: Jul 20, 2012

  • I knew both Bill & Norma for at least 50 years, socially as well as at the swimming pool & gymnastics. They were a great couple to know - gracious, friendly & loyal to their friends. My sincere condolences to the family. - Posted by: Norm Hirsch Los angeles, ca (Friend) on: Jul 17, 2012
