JACK FALK With broken hearts we said good-bye to Jack, a very special Husband, Dad, Grandpa and Great-Grandpa on Sunday, July 22, 2012 at Grace Hospital after an eight month battle with cancer. Left to cherish Jack's memory are his wife Marie; daughters Lori (Al Olafson, Garrett, Ellyse), Jo-Anne (Harry Van Helden, Donnie, Monica, Mia, Drake), Shelley (Zach, Seamus, Flannery O'Brien-Moran, John Dalke, Courtney), Susan (Gary Arnason, Jared, Tyler); two brothers, Peter (Agnes) of Winnipeg, Dave (Diane) of Langley, BC; sisters-in-law, Doris and Sadie Wilson (Rathwell), Lorna (Kelly) Jackson of Winnipeg; along with many nieces and nephews whose company he really enjoyed. He was predeceased by his mom and dad, Helen and Peter Falk; mother and father-in-law, Katie and Bill Wilson; brothers-in law Jack and Shorty Wilson; niece Helen Hudson; special neighbour Jim Walker; as well as his very best friend Doug Holmes. Jack grew up in Sperling, and moved to Winnipeg where he met and married his sweetie in 1958. He was employed by Bristol Aerospace and Transport Canada, retiring in 1991. After retirement he had casual employment with the Federal Courts as a court usher, which he thoroughly enjoyed, but his true passion was being a handyman to many. Jack's love of curling, camping, traveling, and above all the quiet family gatherings, leave us with many wonderful memories. He was a member of Deer Lodge United Church as well as a volunteer at Deer Lodge Centre taking patients to the chapel service on Sunday mornings. Jack of Many Trades was very proud of his girls and their families; they knew he was always there for them. A Celebration of Jack's Life will be held on Friday, July 27, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in Sturgeon Creek United Church, 207 Thompson Drive, with family friend Rev. Earl Gould officiating. Words cannot express the wonderful care we received from all, especially Grace Hospital Three South. Everyone from housekeeping, aides, nurses, doctors (Dr. George and Dr. Joshua), and the Palliative Care team were all a very caring group; we couldn't have wished for better. We would like to extend a very special thank you to Dr. Atwal and April at Assiniboine Clinic, Dr. Ong, Dr. Gingerich, Dr. Doa with CancerCare, Dr. J. Wong with Health Sciences Centre and the Gamma Knife team. We would also like to thank our relatives and friends who have helped us in so many ways during this difficult time. Thank you to our extremely loving mom for taking such good care of dad. You were the love of his life . In lieu of flowers, donations in Jack's memory would be appreciated and may be made to Grace Hospital - Three South, 300 Booth Drive, Winnipeg, MB R3J 3M7 or CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. Love You Forever

  • Jack was my son and daughter in law's neighbor. He was a very friendly neighbor to them and a very kind man to us too. He had a kind smile and was always ready to give a hand when needed. We are sorry we can't be present but we only heard the sad news today from our son, Sam, and we are in Europe. God be with Jack and his family. Our prayers go out to you all, especially to Marie and family. Our condolences. - Posted by: Maria and Abilio Nobre (friends) on: Jul 27, 2012

  • What a wonderfull role model for our children! Jack was always there, in his quiet and gentle way, looking after us and the neighbourhood for the 20 years we have had the pleasure to know and love him. He gave us so much valuable advice along the way, and supported us in our many house projects. Until we could afford our own snowblower, he cleared our driveway pad after every snowstorm, so we could get to work on time. He even took special notice of our daughters as they grew up, encouraging them in their studies. When they were young, Jack kept an extra eye on them, too, that they were always safe: " Yes, Kathy, she can climb the new fence, but she is careful in the lane when she's getting the ball". Jack was, and always will be, the Dad of the neighbourhood. We will miss his smiling face, popping into our house. Love and prayers go out to Jack and Marie. - Posted by: Kathy, Doug, Gillian And Glynnis Smith (neighbours) on: Jul 26, 2012

  • We have thought of you all so often during the past months. We always left any encounter with Jack (and Marie) with a smile on our faces. Jack was an amazing role model for his wonderful family and leaves a legacy of a life lived with love, joy, mission, and a genuine caring for others. We will still be in Halifax on Friday, but please know that we will be with you in prayer as you gather together at Jack’s Celebration of Life. - Posted by: Don and Jacqui Hurton (Friends of the family) on: Jul 26, 2012

We are just thankful we had the opportunity to know him and experience the love this family shares. - Posted by: Glen,Chris and Ryan (Friends of the family) on: Jul 25, 2012

  • Our first contact with Jack Falk and another neighbours, Art and Joyce was a cleared driveway the day we moved into our house, the day of a huge snowstorm. Jack and Marie and family have continued to be fun, welcoming, and caring neighbours, the ideal of neighbours and family. Our hearts go out to you as we bear the good fortune of having known Jack and continuing to be neighbour to Marie. Love, Trish, Sam, Miguel, Ana and Shadow. - Posted by: Trish Nobre (Neighbour) on: Jul 25, 2012

  • I only knew Jack for a few years but was impressed immediately by his professionalism, and attention to detail. He was a quiet man, respectful, skilled, and caring. I came to enjoy his quick smile and to have complete faith in his word and committment to doing a good job. Over time we shared information about our families and when I met Marie, I understood exactly why Jack was so proud of her, as he was of his family. I will miss him but he is present in my home in the wonderful work he completed here and will always be remembered. My condolences to Marie and the family. I know he will leave a hole in the fabric of your lives. - Posted by: Marjorey Dwornick (Friend) on: Jul 25, 2012
