RALPH WILLIAM EISBRENNER December 21, 1918 - July 26, 2012 Peacefully, at the age of 93, Ralph William EisBrenner departed this world to join his beloved wife Agnes Wilhelmina (née Lembke), whom he asked to prepare a place for him upon her passing in 2004. Ralph will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his children Glenn (Judy), Doug (Cathy) and Cheryl (Bob); grandchildren Tracie (Leigh), Lisa, Jason, Erin, Tyson (Esther), Adam, Luke (Lisa), Trevor, David, Chantal (Jonny), and Charisse (Jeremy); and great-grandchildren Maximilian, Arlo, Brody, Bailey, Mikhaila, Soraya, Micah, Zoë, Quinn, Emma, Owen and Maëlle. Ralph is survived by his dear sister Eleanor and her husband Alfred Schroeder, sisters-in-law Ruth and Kay EisBrenner, nephews Roger, Daryl, Terry, Robbie, Donald and William; nieces Marlene, Barbara, Rosemary, Judy, Anita and Gail; brother-in-law Leslie Lembke, and a great many extended family members and friends. Ralph was predeceased by his father Adolf EisBrenner, mother Maria (née Kein), brothers John and Walter, and brother-in-law Wallace Lembke. Ralph also leaves behind his second wife Elli Rosenberg and her daughter Heidi (Mario), with whom he shared his life in later years. As a young man of 21, Ralph joined the Royal Canadian Armed Forces in 1940 to serve overseas during the Second World War. While in England he was recruited as a member of the Natural Resources Mobilization Unit, and was flown into occupied territories where his fluent German was put to use on various intelligence and reconnaissance missions. In 1946 he retired as Staff Sergeant and returned home to his family in Emerson, Manitoba. Ralph went on to a career in the federal public service in 1948, working as an Immigration Officer with Canada Customs and Immigration. He received a Government of Canada award for long and efficient service upon his retirement in 1985. Ralph maintained a keen interest in politics throughout his life, actively participating in community advocacy on various issues. In 1976, he was elected as the Mayor of Emerson, an office he held during the major Red River flood year of 1979. Ralph continued to serve as Mayor until 1983. Ralph lived life with passion, great energy and determination, a generous spirit and a devotion to truth and integrity. He always sought to inspire and encourage those around him to achieve their fullest potential. Ralph was particularly known for his strong will, an even stronger handshake, and an unpredictable sense of humour and the laughter that inevitably followed. We love you dad, grandpa, great-grandpa. May you find peace and happiness together with mom and in the company of your loved ones in the next world. A Memorial Service will be held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 15 Second Street in Emerson, MB at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 3. Following the interment, a luncheon will be held at Emerson Community Complex at 101 Church Street.
