SALLY MAY ALEXANDER May 17, 1956 - July 27, 2012 On July 27th, surrounded by loved ones, Sally drew her last breath, marking the end of a six year battle with Cancer. Sally is loved and remembered by her Husband Jim, Sons Ryan (Jeannie) and Mike (Charlene), Grandchildren Nick, Sophie and Callie, Parents Earl and Elsie, her sister Doris (Ray), brothers Russell (Cathy), John (Donna), Gord (Trina) Dave (Shirley), and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends. Sally was born May 17, 1956 in Comox, B.C., where she developed a love for the water, crafting and nature that would continue for a lifetime. Sally was a dedicated family woman, leaving her career as a pharmacy technician to open a day care, allowing her to stay with her boys. Sally and family eventually settled in Winnipeg closer to extended family. She started her career again, quickly becoming a highly respected member of the industry. Everyone she interacted with was changed for the better, truly embodying the adage live love laugh . Sally was diagnosed with Cancer just before her 50th birthday. She spent her remaining years checking things off her bucket list including seeing both sons married, three grandchildren born, two trips to Hawaii, many memorable weekends with her scrap bookers anonymous and breakfast club friends. Sally always said her strength to fight comes from a reason to live, and for her that was her family and friends, and she will be greatly missed by all of them. A celebration of Sally's life will be held on Saturday, August 4, at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of Canada thru www.ccfc.ca.

  • We first met Sally in 1985 when the Alexanders lived in Edmonton just 1/2 a block from us. The five children had many good times at their home with Sally always willing to help out with child care and activities like making Hallowe'en costumes. After their move to Winnipeg, Sally continued to organize great get-togethers and events for the 2 families. She could always think of the most appropriate surprise gifts and made awesome crafts and cards. Since her diagnosis with cancer, we have constantly been amazed by her courage, determination, and independence during the surgeries, treatments and the palliative phase. We will never forget her positivity and kindnesses and we know how much her family and friends will miss her. - Posted by: Sylvia, Daliph, Cynthia, Steven, and Carolyn Ganga (Friends) on: Aug 03, 2012

  • Words cannot express the sadness and heartache we have experienced since hearing of Sally's passing. We offer our deepest condolences to Jim, Ryan and Michael and their families. Also, please pass on our sympathies to Sally's parents and siblings. We had many fun times together both in Wpg. and in Edmonton. Sally was very quick to pass along praise to you and to get excited when she talked about her "boys" and now her beautiful grandchildren. On our Birthday or Anniversary, you could be sure to count on a beautifully hand crafted greeting card from Sally and they sure were appreciated. I (we) will miss you my friend and grateful for the times we had together. Rest in peace now, free of pain and suffering. Psalm 23:4 Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me. - Posted by: Carmella and Don Beavis (Grateful Friends) on: Jul 31, 2012
