MAUREEN LYNN JACQUES (nee ROBITAILLE) Peacefully on the morning of Wednesday, August 1, 2012, with her family by her side, Maureen quietly passed away after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. Maureen is lovingly remembered by her husband Doug, her children Paul (Marnie), Krystal (Matt) and Kyle. She will also be deeply missed by her mother Aimee, brothers Larry (Lise) and John (Mel), sister Cheryl (Darrell), her extended families, the Jacques and the Vielfaures and many nieces and nephews. Maureen was predeceased by her father John and brother Brian. Maureen was a fan of the Blue Bombers, the Jets and many other sports but her favorite teams were the ones that her children were on. Whether it was Paul in hockey, Krystal in bowling and soccer or Kyle bowling and playing baseball she was always very proud of them. She was so proud of the career paths they have all chosen and will excel at. Maureen loved her home and yard, she couldn't wait for spring so the flowers could go in but most importantly her vegetable garden - there is nothing like fresh tomato sandwiches, she always said. Although her strength didn't allow it, she was able to direct Doug and Krystal how to plant the garden, which will continue to grow in her memory. Maureen was a tireless volunteer at Champlain Community Club for many years, a place where she poured her heart and soul into, making sure it was open and safe for the children in the neighborhood. She was elated with the fact some kids told her You make the best hockey ice around. Prior to her illness she worked at Holy Cross School, it was here that she made many wonderful friends with her co-workers and students. Maureen was loved by all and will be sorely missed. The family wishes to thank Maureen's CancerCare team Dr. G Schroeder, Dr. M Pitz and Kim Paradoski R.N. We also want to thank the palliative home nursing team that helped make it possible for Maureen to stay at home with us until July 31, 2012. In keeping with Maureen's wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Tuesday, August 7, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., in Holy Cross Church, 252 Dubuc Street with a reception to follow in the Champlain Community Club, 282 Niverville Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Maureen's memory to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 675 McDermot Avenue, Room ON1160, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3E 0V9. • I did not know Maureen...but I do know Doug. From that reference alone, I know Maureen must have had a great sense of humour. Her smile tells it all...and when she pops into your head...which she'll do often... you'll smile right back. My love to Doug and all the family.
