KATHLEEN (KAY) LOWRY GIRARDIN It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kathleen (Kay) Lowry Girardin at the Villa Youville Personal Care Home in Ste. Anne, Manitoba on July 28, 2012 at the age of 88. Mom was born in Galt, ON on May 3, 1924 but resided in Manitoba for most of her life. She married Gabriel Girardin in 1942 where they resided in Lasalle, Halifax, Winnipeg and lastly, Ste. Anne. Kathleen was predeceased by her husband Gabriel (1994). She is survived by her four children, Dennis (Connie), Kenneth, Guy, Jackie, her sister Margaret (Sam), special family friends Cheryl, Dorothy (Dot), numerous nieces and nephews. One of mom's favourite memories in her younger years was working at the Celebrity Box Office at The Bay downtown. She said she met so many nice and interesting people / entertainers, however her true passion was animals. She adored all animals / birds - domestic/farm/wild and it was not unusual for her to be helping an injured or abandoned animal in need. She loved the outdoors - gard-ening, walking with the dogs - summer and winter. There were many special people in her life and our sincerest Thank-you to Gisele/Emile Smith, Brunel Girardin, Shannon, Carole/Ernie, Tanya/Derek, Linda, for all their help and compassion in the last couple of years; Sister Irene Rioux, and all the wonderful nurses and staff at the Villa Youville for their excellent care and compassion. Cremation has taken place and as per Kathleen, there will be no funeral service. Kathleen's greatest wish was that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Winnipeg Humane Society in her memory.
