MARY SKINNER Our dear mother and our best friend, Mary Skinner passed away May 14, 2012; in her 99th year of life; after receiving her last rites at Yaletown House in Vancouver, where mother enjoyed the residents and staff, many daily activities that she participated in and enjoying all her meals in the dining room with her many friends, overlooking the greenery of the court yard for the past 10 years. Overlooking the ocean views, Mary enjoyed coffee chats with her son, Walter and daughter Florence and our visits were often as we chose to live close by. On our early retirement to Vancouver in 2001; we moved mother out with us to enjoy her latter years with us in warmer weather. Mary was born and raised in Winnipeg and our last family home in River Heights, mother enjoyed her gardens, cooking, needlework and shopping visits to Eatons. Mary was an excellent traveller accompanying her daughter to many destinations, as in Hawaii, California, Nevada and many road trips; and her weekly dancing meets with friends at the legion. Florence was honoured to have mother in the audience when she received her many real estate sales awards. Mary was predeceased by her loving husband Albert in 1973, after 44 years of togetherness and her eldest son Nicholas in l999. To our mother Mary Skinner; you my dearest will be missed by us both as well as the staff who dearly enjoyed your kindness on a daily basis; and we were so blessed to have you with us for so long; you were blessed to have lived a very health lifestyle until your sudden passing on May 14 at Yaletown House Care Home. Rest in Peace and may God be with you... Daughter Florence and Son Walter.
