Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROGER WARREN GOODMAN January 14, 1928 - August 1, 2012 Born in Winnipeg in the middle of winter, Dad's first passion was hockey. As a child he played for the Downing Street Doodads and West End Orioles, and after graduating high school at 15 Roger moved to Brandon to play for the Brandon Elks. At 17 he attended University of Minnesota on scholarship to suit up for the Golden Gophers. Hockey also took Roger overseas to play for the Nottingham Panthers before returning to the University of North Dakota to join the Fighting Sioux and study Commerce. Jocelyn Bell was Roger's next and greatest passion - his sweetheart and wife for more than 56 wonderful years. Rog's career with Imperial Oil took their family from Winnipeg to Dauphin, then Edmonton, before settling in North Vancouver, raising their five children and fitting in tennis, racquetball, golf, skiing and travel when they could. Roger was the ultimate family man who loved to spend time with Jocelyn and their children and grandchildren. Predeceased by his mother Johanna Bergthora, father Gudmundur Peter, and sister Barbara Honey, Roger is lovingly remembered and will always be missed by his wife Jocelyn, children John (Cindy), Jocelyn (Bill), Gordon (Celia), Warren and Paul, and grandchildren Erica, Samantha, Sophie, Max, Kelly and Michael, his brother Gil (Marj), and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and friends. An open house for family and friends will be held in September, details to be announced later.
