Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryIOANNIS ANDROMIDAS It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our husband and father on August 17, 2012 at the age of 84 years. John was predeceased by his parents Nicholas and Maria, sisters Panagiota, Sofia and Matina and his brother Demetrios. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 57 years Georgia, daughters Maria (Tariq) and Theodora (Paul), sons Nick (Maria), Philip (Angela), Peter (Kimberly) and Jimmy (Tammy), brothers Dino (Aphrodite) and Peter (Matina) and sister Dina (Peter), as well as 18 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. John was born January 5, 1928, in Gerakas, Greece and like others of his generation, led a life of hardship and strife, forging his mantra of perseverance and his strong work ethic which remained with him all his life. This spirit was instrumental when in 1972 John chose to immigrate to Canada in order to give his young family a better life. Settling in Winnipeg, John set to work and through his endeavors built a lasting legacy culminating in the establishment of the Marion Restaurant. Right up to the end, John enjoyed keeping busy and visiting with his many friends. He was much loved and will be sorely missed. Services will be held at the St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 2255 Grant Ave. Viewing / Visitation will take place this evening, Tuesday, August 21 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 22 at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Fr. Theodore Paraskevopoulos officiating.
