CHARLES FORTIN Charles Gerald Fortin, Mr. Belvidere, peacefully passed away August 20, 2012, with his family by his side. Beloved husband to Dolly for 41 loving years. Amazing father to Rodney, Holly (Mike), Rebecca (Allan), and Jill (Jeffrey). Cherished Papa to Charly, Mercedes, Tristan, Logan, Jackson, Brandon and Darrian. Left to be mourned by father Gerald; brother Ron (Verna); sister Sandy (John), Solange (Jacques); numerous brother and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and countless friends. Charlie was predeceased by his mother Edna, adoptive parents Dugald and Mable Anderson, brothers Doug, Benny, Dennis, Bobby and sister Nora. Charlie was born and raised in Dauphin, MB, where he stayed until grade 12. He then went on to have many adventures and spent most of his time on the west coast. But a prairie boy at heart, he returned to Dauphin where he pursued his wife Dolly, the two eventually moving to Winnipeg to start their family. Charlie was always the entrepreneur and tried his hand in many businesses, but settled on what he truly loved - construction. In 1983, Belvidere Construction Ltd., a successful foundation company was established. As we all know, he was not all work and no play. Dad enjoyed many years at the cabin, his favorite watering hole the Silver Heights Restaurant, having friends and family over for bonfires and karaoke, the Horse Races, golfing and his home away from home Las Vegas. We will always remember Dad's love for music, mostly old country classics, and how he lived life to the fullest. He was always generous, kind, and loving to all who knew him. We would like to thank Dr. Harris and her team at Grace General Hospital CancerCare and a special thanks to the palliative care team Dr. St. Goddard, Dr. Martin and nurses Kris and Jen for your outstanding care and support. A service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 25 at Sturgeon Creek United Church, 207 Thompson Dr., Winnipeg, MB. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba. I never met Mr. Fortin personally but recall the stories Dolly his loving wife told us at work. The many escapades Dolly and her hubby had. Of course we all knew how much he loved her without having met him. Dolly my thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family during this sad time and I know your beautiful memories of your life together will help you through. In a very few occasion, one meets a person, instant friendship and one that you will always treasure. Such is the case with Charlie, and then Dolly, We will miss him a lot, smile and warmth, that laugh and genuine human feeling for another.
