Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTRUDY (GERTRUDE) CHRISTINE FOWLER (ZEMLIDUK) (nee WALSH) October 4, 1915 - August 8, 2012 Mom passed away peacefully with her daughters by her side at Fred Douglas Lodge. Trudy is survived by her children John, Mary, Karen (Steve), Donna (Terry), Linda, and her special son-in-law Yvon, who was always there for Mom, grandson Trevor, who also helped his grandparents when needed. She also leaves behind 15 grandkids and 21 great-grandkids, cousins, nieces and nephews in Newfoundland and England. Trudy was predeceased by her first husband John (1976), second husband Jim (2003), son Terry (1999), daughter Gail (2001), her parents, brothers, sisters and her special cousin Maggy. Trudy was born and raised in Newfoundland, where she met and married our father during the war. After the war she moved to Winnipeg and raised seven kids. Together they worked hard their whole life to do the best they could for the family. Trudy was proud to be a lifetime member of the Imperial Veterans Legion, where she spent countless hours volunteering, whether it be for the ladies auxiliary to sick visiting where she was recognized by Deer Lodge centre for all the volunteer hours. It was at the legion where she met and married Jim (a great stepfather, grandfather and great-grandfather) in 1984. Trudy loved to travel to Mexico, England, Scotland, Hawaii, Branson, and more places than I can think of. Trudy and Jim would travel back to Newfoundland for many years in the summer months. They also loved going on their casino trips. When Jim passed, she continued to go on the casino trips, where she met many good friends. We would like to say a special thank you to Margret, Jack and Harry for always taking care of Mom on the trips. You will never know how happy we were she had good friends like you. Another special thank you to Joyce Mclean, who became friends with Trudy at Fred Douglas and helped a lot. Mom would always say if you can't be here - do not worry, Joyce is here. We love you Joyce. The family would also like to thank the staff of spruce unit for all the good care, too many to mention, but there were some favourites and you know who you are - thank you. At Trudy's request, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Trudy's life will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2012, at Fred Douglas Lodge from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Activity Room, with Rev. Paul Peter Derry. Mom will be taken home to Newfoundland in the summer of 2013. Donations can be made to Fred Douglas Recreation or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Mom, you will be missed and loved forever.
