Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • I loved Jean and she loved me. I am so sorry to hear Jean passed away. Horst and I just visited her in her home and in St. Boniface. I met Jean approximately 15 years ago in Camp Arnes, our St. Peter's retreat when I was President of the German Ladies Group. We became very close and shared a lot. Our husbands also became very close and we helped them in many ways, where ever we could. On their 50th Wedding Anniversary, Horst and I prepared a skid, preparing and performing highlights from their life. We learned so much about Jean and Ben and enjoyed the presentation. We soon learned and met Jean's extended and wonderful family. Jean and Ben treated us like family and we loved them both and tried to support them in every way. Jean was a wonderful cook and a great hostess. I found Jean to be very generous and a great teacher with her wonderful cooking. When she offered me some clothes that were too small on her, I cried and kissed her. She asked me why I cried and I replied to her: "Nobody has been this generous to me since my mother died" Jean in her generosity said "I want to be your friend". Yes, indeed she was my dear friend. I miss her so much. Poor Jean, she had to suffer so much since her knee operation. Rest in peace my friend. I shall always treasure your beads which you brought along from Hawaii, and which I am wearing on Saturday. Love you and miss you! - Posted by: Ilse Frank (Dear Friend) on: Aug 30, 2012

  • I am so sorry to hear about your Mom. I remember spending many nights in her home with Ruth. We used to drive her crazy with all our laughter. I will always remember her hospitality and her wonderful cooking. She will be missed by all who were lucky enough to spend time with her recently or in the past. Hugs to all of you.
