ANDREW HOLIK It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Andy, age 50, on Wednesday, August 29, 2012, with his loved ones by his side. Andy was predeceased by his mom and dad, Helena and Basil, and his brother Henry. He leaves to cherish his memory, his son Adam, brother Ed, sisters-in-law Pam and Kathy, girl-friend Debbie (her son Jude), friend Judy (Adam's mom), nephews Nick and Stef, nieces Sabrina, Brittany and Melissa, numerous cousins and many good friends. Andy was born and raised in Winnipeg and spent his entire life here, going to school at St. Ignatius, St. Paul's and Kelvin and then achieving his Commerce Degree from the University of Manitoba. He worked for MTS for a number of years, where he felt he had the best job possible and truly loved going to work every day. Andy was very involved in rugby in his younger years, but his interests then turned to Karate at the Fort Garry Shotokan where he could share this passion with his son Adam, his pride and joy. Our family and friends would like to thank the staff at CancerCare, Health Sciences Centre D6 and MICU for their tremendous work and compassion. If you would like to make a donation in Andy's name, please make it to CancerCare Manitoba. Andy's Funeral Mass will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at St. Ignatius Church, 255 Stafford St. in Winnipeg. A private family burial will take place on a separate date. To Be the man, you got to BEAT the man! We love you and will miss you Anj. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044

I met Andy when we were on GD6 together. My brother was friends with a friend of Andy's and they had spoken about having people close to them dealing with Leukemia at the same time. I'm very sorry to hear that Andy lost his battle - we used to have our out-patient day clinics at the same time after we were released from the ward. - Posted by: Karen (friend from GD6) on: Dec 22, 2012

My condolences to the family. Andy and I had the pleasure of meeting on D6. We found ourselves going for our daily exercises at the same time, and because of this we became friends!!! I remember a quote Andy really liked and thought I should post it. It is: "You may not be able to control the wind but you can adjust your sails". Thanks for being my friend, Andy. - Posted by: Jennifer (Friend from D6) on: Nov 11, 2012

I met Andy when he was my rugby coach at Grant Park. I had the honor of calling him a teammate when I came and played with him on the Wanderers rugby club. I will always remember him for the energetic intense athlete he was and inspiration to me as a young man on a new team in my first men's league. He made us feel welcome to the club and was a great leader! We will miss you Andy - Posted by: Mike Menard (Teammate) on: Sep 01, 2012
