JANET LAMBETH (1953 - 2012) The family of Janet Lambeth is profoundly saddened by her passing on August 27, 2012. She was 59 years old. She was deeply loved and will be missed by her circle of family and friends. Janet was born in Saskatoon, SK on March 25, 1953. She was the youngest of three daughters born to Doris (Anderson) and David Lambeth. The family moved to Winnipeg in 1959, where Jan spent the balance of her life, supported lovingly by her mother until Doris's death in 1998. Janet moved to the MBS apartment at the Courts of St. James, living the last several years with her roommates Maureen and Sammy. Jan was enthusiastic about many things. She loved all family occasions, bright colours, calendars, music, bowling and swimming, the family dogs and cats. She was a devotee of the music of the 60s. She could tell you the year that any tune from that era was first aired, as well as the song title and the performer. She loved the colour yellow, and painting or other crafts. She was committed to photography, particularly as a subject and would interrupt a discussion with, Take a picture. Before the digital era, rolls and rolls of film were taken with Jan photographed in many poses. Her camera travelled with her everywhere. Janet looked forward to donning her witch's costume for Hallowe'en. She loved to help with the ham and baking at Christmas and Easter. There was not a Hallmark occasion that was not important to Jan, but nothing could match her happiness and excitement on her birthday. For many years, she participated in 10 pin bowling in the Blue and Gold League, and she was very good at it, consistently winning trophies. She was a match at this game for anyone in the family. Jan loved to swim. She would get in slowly, but once she was in, she was willing to stay in long after everyone else was done. She wore her enormous sun hat and paced back and forth in the pool for as many hours as she could. She enjoyed outings of almost any kind. She wanted to go to the cottage or to the mall or to a party. She loved to dance at socials or weddings or any other opportunity. She sang along to her favourite songs. She loved the dogs and cats that were part of her life and cherished their friendship. Jan was predeceased by her father, David, in 1979 and her mother, Doris, in 1998. She is survived by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Louise and Ken Olson; Cal Lambeth and Grant Mitchell; her nieces and nephews Andrea and Rick, Michael and Lisa, Jennifer and Scott, Samantha, Elizabeth, Ainsley and Peter and her great nieces and nephew, Jayme, Aden and Ava. A service of remembrance will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage Avenue; you might consider wearing a bright colour. If friends wish, a donation in Jan's memory could be made to the Association for Community Living Manitoba; the Winnipeg Humane Society or any organization which supports kindness to animals.

I can remember the first few times going swimming at Aunty Cal's and everyone saying "DON'T SPLASH JAN" it takes her awhile to get into the pool :) but she loved the water. I am so sorry to hear of Jan's passing. As the write-up said, she was an enthusiastic person who was able to find joy in everything. Her family was the centre of her world, from what I saw, and her love for each of you was unlimited. I know it was reciprocated. I wish I was there to give you a hug, Cal, and to attend Jan's service. I will remember her fondly. - Posted by: Beth McKall (Friend) on: Sep 01, 2012

A truly lovely notice about Jan's life. She was such an integral part of life at 10 Ruskin, which is where I always saw her. She was excellent company -- a charming companion. Her family will miss her greatly. So will I. - Posted by: Nicholas Rice (friend) on: Sep 01, 2012
