Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT GEORGE HUMPHREY Born July 30, 1927 Peacefully, with family by his side at Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket, Ontario on August 28th, 2012. He leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Marie (nee Lavallee). He was a supportive and loving father to Pat, her husband John Gadzinski, Kym and husband Steve Pritchard, and his son Jeffrey. He was the proud Grandpa and Papa to Kate, Will, Andrea, Emily, Megan, Leigh and Hannah. Bob was very fond of his many nieces and nephews, cousins and in-laws. He was predeceased by his sisters, Eleanor Hope and Margaret Wells. Bob possessed great strength of character and expected no less of his family, friends, and co-workers. He achieved success through dogged determination and tireless hours of labour, which he loved. Bob's remarkable 62 year career with the Bulova Watch Company of Canada started in the shipping department when he was a teenager in 1945. He progressed through sales and management to retire in 2007 as Chairman of the Board. Bob was Mr. Bulova in Canada. His steady hand and wise leadership guided Bulova to excel in a very competitive market. Bob was a pillar in the jewellery industry. His honesty, integrity and sense of humour earned him the friendship and admiration of all who knew him. Bob was a life member of the Canadian Jewellers 24 Karat Club. He was very proud of his tenure as president. His passing is a great loss to the membership. Bob will be remembered for his strong opinions, clear voice and his mastery of irony. He loved a good zinger, and a good laugh. He was an avid golfer and valued all the good times with his dear friends Fred, Denny, Clark and nephew David who spent many hours with him on the course. Bob enjoyed a lifetime of fishing and boating on Lake Rosseau where we will celebrate his life next summer. Thank you to Dr. Fry and the staff at the Stronach Cancer Centre at Southlake. He was very devoted to his cherished granddaughter Megan. If desired, donations to Special Olympics, Newmarket and District, 250 Yorkshire Road, Newmarket, ON, L3Y 6J7, newmarket.specialolympicsontario.ca would be much appreciated.
