Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTHOMAS COLLETTE It is with great sadness the family announces the peaceful passing of Tom Collette on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 88 years. Tom was born in Ste. Elizabeth, MB., and later moved to St. Boniface where he met and married the love of his life, Lorraine, and together they shared a happy life until her passing in 1979. In June of 1943 Tom enlisted in the Royal Canadian Artillery, and served his country until May of 1946. He had a long career with CN, and since then, he lived an active life; bowling, having coffee and visiting with his many friends. He was also an enthusiastic fan at many Winnipeg Goldeyes baseball games. Tom was a man of faith and was an active member of St. Bernadette Parish. His passion and dedication to Our Place/Chez Nous was evident in the time he spent volunteering. He cared a great deal about the less fortunate and enjoyed sharing his time and talents as much as possible. As the youngest member of a large family, Tom learned early on how to share of himself and that what truly mattered was his spirit. Tom was predeceased by; his wife Lorraine, his parents Alire and Lily (nee Laberge), seven brothers, two sisters, five nephews and one niece. Tom will be dearly remembered and mourned by his good friend Tara, brother Richard of Salem, Oregon, and several nieces and nephews. A funeral mass celebrating Tom's life will be held on Friday, September 7, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Bernadette Parish, 820 Cottonwood Road. Interment will follow in the St. Boniface Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in memory of Tom may be made to Our Place/Chez Nous, 676 Main Street, Winnipeg, MB., R3B 1E4. The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E.J. We met Tom through our church community. He was very friendly and spiritual. He will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family as you mourn his loss in your lives.
