JEAN ALICE COPPOCK (nee DODDS) 1916 - 2012 After a brief illness, Jean Alice Coppock passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2012. Jean was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Edwin, in March of this year. She was the last surviving member of her family, having been predeceased by her brothers Fred, Jim, Bill and twin sister Gertie. Jean was born in Winnipeg and was raised in the the family home on Colburg Avenue. She often spoke fondly of those earlier Elmwood days and especially of the summer trips to her brother Fred's cabin at Lac Lu. In August of 1941, she married Ed and following his return from the War they settled in West Kildonan on Seven Oaks Avenue where they lived for 57 years. For the last several years they resided at Kildonan House. Jean was employed with the Hudson Bay Company for many years. She enjoyed her summers at the Matlock cottage. A particular enjoyment were her trips to the West Coast to visit her brother's family. Her memory is fondly cherished by her son Fred, wife Ingrid and family. Many memorable times were spent at the summer cottage where Mom was a spirited supporter of the numerous renovation and maintenance projects undertaken by Fred and his father over the years. Thank you to the staff of Luther Home for all their kindness, care and compassion during the last several weeks of Jean's illness. Cremation has taken place and as Mom had requested that no formal arrangements should take place a private memorial has been planned. For those who desire and in lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the charity of their choice in remembrance of Jean.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Fred..I was sorry to read of the recent passing of your Mother. I also was away in March so missed the news of your Dad's passing at that time. I have many fond memories of your parents and their kindness to me on Seven Oaks and at Matlock. The cottage was always a work in progress with great initiatives underway..and the garden! WOW!!! I was always warmly welomed..and I remember that fondly. - Posted by: Phyllis Gallimore (Derham) (former friend of Jackie's....brother across street at Matlock) on: Sep 06, 2012
