FREDERICK JOSEPH LUCE Funeral Liturgy was Celebrated on Thursday, September 6, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 2400 Portage Avenue, with Rev. Fr. José Eduardo Medeiros, presiding.

FREDERICK JOSEPH LUCE Peacefully on Saturday, September 1, 2012 it is with deepest regrets that we announce the death of Frederick Joseph Luce at the Grace Hospital at the age of 88 years. Left to cherish Fred's memory is his loving wife Merlyn; brother Vernon; children Lisa (Rick), Mark (Linda), Fred, and Tom (Cindy); as well as by his grandchildren Evan and Sean. He was predeceased by his daughter Lesley, and sisters Ann and Noreen. On June 21, 1924 Fred was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and spent his entire life here going to school at St. Paul's College. He entered the Navy at 17 years old. Upon returning, he married Merlyn in 1947 and together they raised five children. Fred and Merlyn had recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on July 26. He was always a devoted family man and would always be there for his family and friends. At the age of 66, Fred retired from IXL Brick after working over 40 years in Sales in the construction industry. Fred loved sports and horses and in his younger years was always coaching hockey and baseball at Sturgeon Creek Community Centre. Later in life he took up golf and was a long time member at the Assiniboine Golf Course where he enjoyed his weekends with his friends. Fred also loved to annually attend the Grey Owl Golf Tournament in Clear Lake and the Labour Day Classic Invitational at the Grand Forks Country Club. Funeral Liturgy will be Celebrated on Thursday, September 6, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 2400 Portage Avenue, with Rev. Fr. José Eduardo Medeiros, presiding. A private Interment will take place at a later date. Our family would like to sincerely thank the staff on the 3rd floor at Grace Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations in Fred's memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 200 - 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
