Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELSIE JEAN SIMPSON (nee GANSKE) In the early morning hours of September 2, 2012 Elsie Jean Simpson (nee Ganske) passed into the arms of her loving Saviour. Our beautiful and beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and devoted wife to Lorne went to heaven as gently and as sweetly as she lived. Her beauty, inside and out, her gracious character, and personal warmth will be so very, very deeply missed. Elsie's kind, loving light shone on everyone who knew her. We are so fortunate and grateful to have had this special woman in our lives. Elsie was born on the family farm December 28, 1931 in Cartwright, MB to Ferdinand and Elizabeth Ganske. As a child she loved riding her horse Polly while herding the cattle and working alongside her mother helping with the endless chores on a thriving farm. She attended Mylore School along with her six brothers and sisters. Introduced by mutual friends, Elsie met Lorne and they were married November 13, 1954. Together they shared 58 years of marriage, enjoyed five children, 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. For 16 years Elsie and Lorne lived in the small Hydro towns of Seven Sisters Falls, with brief periods spent in Great Falls, MB. During this time the children were born. Summers were filled with picnics and days at the beach while caring for five small active children. In 1969 the family moved to Winnipeg, MB and purchased the same house they reside in today. They also found their church home Trinity United where they attend every Sunday. When the children became adults Elsie worked at Conquest Nursing Home for 16 years where she made many dear friends and could utilize her expert cooking skills. Elsie's passionate love of family was her number one priority. She dearly loved her children and grandchildren. Her most precious times were spent hosting big family dinners where all the grandchildren would pile into the house looking forward to spending time with Grandma and Grandpa. Big turkey dinners with all the trimmings were her specialty. Homemade buns, oatmeal and double chocolate chip cookies, apple pie and raspberry jam were always in ready supply to raid in the freezer. Elsie and Lorne enjoyed a long retirement together. They loved yard work, tending their vegetable garden and sharing their bounty of tomatoes, carrots and green beans with the family. Being expert campers Lorne and Elsie would often head out with their tent and enjoy Manitoba's lakes and campgrounds. Trading in their tent for a cottage Elsie and Lorne loved spending time at the Dales cottage in Grand Pines, MB. Driving to visit Monty and Pat in Florida was a highlight they fondly remembered. Left behind in gratitude and sadness are husband Lorne, and children Garry Simpson (Lori), Monty Simpson (Pat), Beverly Gregorchuk (Dale), Barbara Simpson (Michael Seaman) and Carolyn Dale (Ed). Grandchildren Brian Simpson (Jamie), Jessica, Chelsea, Jaime, Eric, Ashton, David Gregorchuk (Flori), Ben, Joshua, Ed Dale Jr. (Rebekah), Kaisley Fast (Joshua) and one great-grandchild Lily Simpson. Elsie is survived by brothers Ray Ganske (Joan) and Jim Ganske (Donna) and predeceased by brothers, John and Ed. Sisters Amy and Lil. The family would like to express their gratitude to the doctors, nurses and aides on the 4th floor of the Victoria Hospital for their extraordinary care and concern. We were blessed with the best possible care for Elsie. A Funeral Service to celebrate Elsie's life will be held on Friday, September 7, 2012 at Trinity United Church, 933 Summerside Ave. Viewing 10:30 a.m., Service 11:00 a.m. Interment at Miami Cemetery in Miami, MB. Additional parking available on side streets and Safeway parking lot. Donations can be made to www.runforthecure.com. Elsie's granddaughter Jessica Simpson of Winnipeg is running in memory of Grandma.

Dear Mr. Simpson, Barb, Bev, and the rest of the Simpson family. I am so very sorry to hear of your loss. I just found out this sad news today ...I will always remember your Mum as a lovely, sweet woman, who always had a warm smile and a giggle every time I came over as a teenager. Such a lovely, kind, gentle and generous soul. I can see her smiling right now as I remember her....God's Blessings to all of you. ~Louise - Posted by: Louise Lage (nee Williams) (Friend to her Daughters) on: Nov 25, 2013

If anyone should receive a mother of the year award it would be her. She was a home-maker, a wife, mother, friend, volunteer and for 16 years worked part time at the local nursing home. Her purpose in life was to help others as much as possible. Her home and family was her purpose. She was the type of person who treated everyone fairly and always paid her way own everything no matter how small. Her unconditional love for me will never be forgotten. The only person who ever served me instead of me serving them. And I told her this often and how much I appreciated her. She had a gentle manner and never spoke badly about anyone. Her love of books and cooking, knitting was just a few hobbies. I miss you more and more everyday I'm with out you. The world will never be the same, our loss is Heaven's gain. If I had one wish it would be 2 bring you back home to us all. September 2 of this year we went to see you in Miami and I know you could feel us. My new place 2 see you now. Forever love and kisses until we meet again. - Posted by: Beverly Simpson (daughter) on: Sep 07, 2013

Mom, it's been a year today that you left us! I miss you everyday and my heart is still broken!! You were the Heart and Soul of your big family that you and Dad created! They say that with the Grace of God and Time...will heal all. I don't know if that is true! I so wish you could have met yet another one of your Great-Grand-Baby Violet Elise! And so does Carolyn, Kaisley! LOVE YOU FOREVER MOM XOXO - Posted by: Barbara Simpson (Daughter) on: Sep 02, 2013

My mom was pure sunshine. She would beam with joy when she saw me and one look at her and I would beam too. She had a way of warming my heart with that special smile and I would just bask in her love like it was warm sunshine!! My mom was my best friend and we did everything together. My mom was so young and despite her age, never seemed to grow old. My heart is broken and aches now that she's gone, but as long as I live, my mom lives too...in my heart, my spirit and in the countless loving memories she left with me. Heaven is a little brighter as my mom is warming the place with her glow and love. MOM I miss you so much!!!!And love you so much you were the best ever! Rest in peace!!! - Posted by: Barbara Ann Simpson (Daughter) on: May 01, 2013

To Lorne and family; I will miss Elsie very much and cherish the wonderful memories we shared. I was thrilled to be asked to be her bridesmaid and happy to be at your wedding anniversary celebration. I fondly remember all the ball games we had at different family farms every sunday. I enjoyed the rides back to Winnipeg with you and staying overnight at the Simpson's in Miami.
