Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELIZABETH (BETTE) BERNICE VOKEY (nee COLPITTS) April 8, 1929 - July 26, 2012 After a very short illness, Mom passed away at Victoria General Hospital on July 26, 2012. Bette was predeceased by her husband Raymond in 1983. She was the youngest child of William and Margaret Colpitts of Winnipeg and was predeceased by all her siblings and their spouses, Gert (Jim) Milne, Lue (Harry) Bailey, Reynolds (Isabel) Colpitts, Donald (Gladys) Colpitts, Frank (Myrtle) Colpitts, Isabelle (Tom) Bowles, and Margaret (Bill) Hammond. Left to mourn her loss are four sons, Donald (Linda), Randy (Liz), Bruce (Pat), and Mark (Susan), grandchildren Kevin (Stephanie), Derek (Jennifer), Jennifer (Chris), Jason, Chris (Shayla), Lynsey (Brendon), and Alyssa (Ed) and seven great-grandchildren, Austin, Alannah, Kaitlynn, Sydney, Amelia, Georgia, and Theodore, as well as many nieces and nephews from the Colpitts and Vokey families. Bette had a busy life and, in addition to family, actively pursued a career and many other interests. She joined Drake Personnel in 1968. This led in 1970 to a position with the Winnipeg Convention and Visitors Bureau. In 1975 she was promoted to Director of Convention Sales, a position she held until retirement. Other activities included serving as charter president of Executive Women International, member of The Order of the Eastern Star, and a longtime member of the Riverview (and later Churchill Park) United Church. She was also active with United Commercial Travellers as secretary-treasurer. She and Dad both curled at Fort Rouge and St. Vital curling clubs. She was a staunch supporter of the Blue Bombers and was a season ticket holder through to this year, attending Grey Cup games here and in Calgary with her Bomber buddies. A memorial service will be held at Churchill Park United Church 525 Beresford Ave, on September 15 at 1:30 p.m with a reception to follow. Ashes will be interred at Glen Eden Cemetery on Friday, September 14 at 2:30 p.m. We want to thank the staff on the 4th floor of Victoria General for their care and compassion while Mum was there. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations to Siloam Mission (300 Princess St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 9Z9) or a charity of your choice in our Mom's name would be appreciated.
