EDWARD KENNINGS (BUD) FOSTER October 29, 1916 - September 2, 2012 On September 2, 2012, Edward (Bud) Foster passed away at the age of 95. He was predeceased by his parents Beatrice and Ransom Foster, brother Jack (Marjorie) and his loving wife Doris. Bud was born in London, Ontario, and was nicknamed by his older brother. He moved to Winnipeg in 1929, attending school at Earl Grey, Kelvin and United College. He served with the RCAF during the Second World War and after attending radar technician classes at McGill University, he was stationed at radar bases in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. He was employed several years with CNR and joined Supercrete Ltd. (Lafarge) in 1955 where he worked as Purchasing Manager for 27 years. Bud was an avid sports fan having participated in various sports himself, winning numerous medals and trophies. He spent many years playing golf at the Canoe Club, Charleswood Golf Club and Elmhurst Golf and Country Club. At Elmhurst he acted on the Board of Directors, being their President from 1970 to 1973. He was President of the Manitoba Golf Association in 1979 and on the Royal Canadian Golf Association from 1979 to 1989 serving on the Rules Committee. He received an outstanding Volunteer in Sports Award for four consecutive years by the Manitoba Sports Federation. In 1997, he was honoured by the Royal Canadian Golf Association in recognition of his dedicated contribution to golf. In 2006, Bud was inducted into the Manitoba Golf Hall of Fame in the Builder Category. Bud and Doris spent their retirement winters golfing in the southern USA. 10 years were spent at their hacienda in Mesa, Arizona, enjoying the company of many friends. Bud was a great story-teller and would relate many anecdotes of his golfing world and the many greats he had met. Bud is survived by his daughter Janice (Jim) Cline of Victoria, B.C. and son James (Jhoy) Foster of Victoria, B.C., stepdaughters Trudy Corbitt of Edmonton, AB, Linda (Ed) Kluss of Kamloops, B.C. and Susan (Bernard) Snezyk of Grande Pointe, MB. He was loved and will be dearly missed. Special thanks to the kind staff at Concordia Hospital N1N and St. Norbert Personal Care Home. Memorial service will be held at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard on September 13, 2012 at 2:00 PM.
