FERRUCCIO (FRED) FASSINA Unexpectedly but peacefully, Ferruccio passed away on Saturday, September 1, 2012, at Beacon Hill Lodge, where he was a resident for almost two years. He was born in Italy on October 22, 1929, then later came to Canada. He worked in the mines in Ontario and from there, moved to Manitoba to work at the mine in Thompson. In 1961, he was in a mine explosion, where he underwent many surgeries and hospitalization. When his health improved, he started working in construction, mainly stucco and ceramic tile. He enjoyed his work and it had to be perfect. In 1963, he met Lorraine at a dance, the friendship lasted about a year, then they parted ways. Then in 1980, their paths crossed again and they were together since. He enjoyed working in the yard, garage, playing cards, the casinos, especially at South Beach casino, but most of all his passion was dancing. In 2006, he became a member at General Sir Sam Steele Legion. He is survived by Lorraine, Antonietta (sister), sons Alfonso (Lorenza) and Antonio (son of Maria) (Nicole), daughters Germinia (Mario), Erminia Lucy (daughter of Maria) (Antonio), stepchildren Lance and Cindy (Mike). Grandchildren are Sonia (Antonio), Lisa (Emmanuel), Christina (Paulo), Ambero (Nicola), Desmond, Antonio, Jordan, Jestina, Dante, Len (Shauna), Melanie (Curtis), Raymond, Nicole, Theresa, Andrew, and Arys. Great-grandchildren are Maxima, Sabrina, Thomas, Matia, Andrea, Tristen, Taylor, Kierra, Dorian, Natalie, and Mackenzie. He is predeceased by his parents Torino and Alda, his granddaughter Silvana (Antonio), and brothers and sisters, and stepson Brad (Jan). The family would like to thank everyone at Beacon Hill and especially the third floor, and many family and friends. Cremation has already taken place and a memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 13, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at Sir Sale Steele Legion at 376 Salter Street. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Alzheimer Society. Rest in Peace, I will always Love you - Lorraine
