BERNICE GARNET GRACE MACLEOD (nee MITCHELL) 1924 - 2012 Bernice Bunny' passed away peacefully at Riverview Health Centre on September 7, 2012, at the age of 87. Bernice was predeceased by her beloved husband Malcolm, her sister Trennie Hunter, brother John F. Mitchell and parents Sadie and John Mitchell. She is survived by her daughter Siobhan Tremblay (Kenneth), and her son Rory Macleod with her grandsons, Liam and Sean. She will also be remembered by her several nieces and nephews, Linda (Brian) Allanson and John (Maureen) Mitchell of Portage la Prairie, Bruce Mitchell of Winnipeg and Heather Maureen Clare and Gia (Raymond) Couture of Winnipeg. Bernice was born on September 18, 1924, in Winnipeg and lived a full and beautiful life. She attended St. Mary's Academy as a young girl and later graduated from Gordon Bell High School. She enjoyed staying active and loved playing golf and doing synchronized swimming in her younger years. She also looked forward to her Bridge Club get togethers with her long-time friends going back to her school days. She had the opportunity to meet many people that would become long-time friends at her different jobs as well, some of which included her first as a life guard at Sargent Park Pool then after graduation her first job was working for Sir Charles Tupper then on to James Richardson Sons. She volunteered at both the Ballet and Art Galleries in Edmonton and Winnipeg while raising her children. After her family had grown she went back to work and enjoyed her time at the University of Manitoba working at different faculties, including Agriculture, The Canada Biting Fly Center, and finally the Faculty of Pharmacy where she retired. She loved to share her memories of spending summers at the family cottage as a young girl on Gun Lake in Minaki - a place she cherished and talked about through her entire life and inspiring another generation to continue that tradition. After she met Malcolm she supported him as he set up his business moving to Regina and Edmonton before returning to Winnipeg - all the time making sure her children got to ballet, soccer or any other activities. Her attachment to All Saint's Anglican Church was never far from her heart regardless of where she lived. She spent many of her retirement years looking after Malcolm and baking treats and preparing goody bags for her grandsons' visits. Bernice was a loving, generous, and compassionate woman and a loving wife, mother and friend. She was proud of her children and deeply loved her grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 11, 2012, in All Saints Anglican Church, 175 Colony Street. Following a reception, interment will take place in Kildonan Presbyterian Cemetery. In lieu of flowers gifts made in memory of Bernice Macleod may be made to All Saint's Anglican Church, 175 Colony Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 1W2. We love you Mother and Grammie. Rest in peace until we meet again. Bardal Funeral Home and Crematorium 204-774-7474 Condolences: www.bardal.ca
