HELEN KNOR (nee SWAYKOSKI) February 17, 1941 - September 6, 2012 It is with deep sorrow we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother at the Teulon Hunter Memorial Hospital. Helen will be survived by her husband John, three sons Randall and Robert of Winnipeg, Kelly (Lana) along with her pride and joy her two grandsons; Kelvyn and Kevin of Teulon, brother Jim (Grace) of Komarno and sister-in-law Joan of Gimli, also by many relatives of families. She was predeceased by her parents, Kay in 1980, John in 1981, and a brother, Ernie in 2008. Helen was born in the Pleasant Home District. She was raised on the farm and went to Plum Ridge School. John and Helen met while he was working construction in Winnipeg and were married on June 2, 1962. In June 2002, they celebrated their 50th anniversary with family. After a few years of living in Winnipeg, John and Helen moved to Komarno, MB, in 1969, where together they raised their boys and lived until September 2011. She worked various jobs, volunteered at Komarno Community Hall but her main job was being the best Wife, Mom and Baba ever! Next to her love for family and cooking, she enjoyed a good game of bingo, ponies, and years later loved all the overnight or day trips to the casino with John or the gang. She will be remembered and missed for her laughter, compassion towards others and a very generous heart. In keeping with her wishes, cremation as taken place. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, October 20 at the Komarno Community Hall at 2:30 p.m.; followed with a meal and songs while visiting with family and friends. Her celebration will be officiated by Pastor Dan Shmeliniski. All who loved Mom are considered honorary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Green Acres Art Centre Box 545, Teulon, MB R0C3B0. This is the non-profit organization where her grandsons receive dance and karate lessons. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at CancerCare and Teulon Hunter Memorial Hospital.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • To All of the family; Sorry to hear of Helen's passing. Could not attend the funeral due to distance from my residence. Was glad that I was able to visit Helen, last summer when I was in the Komarno area. I will always remember the good times we had as teenagers many years ago and remember Helen as generous kind fun loving person. I will miss OUR afternoon teas whenever I am in the Komarno area in the future. You have my deepest sympathy. Diane Rowden - Posted by: Diane Rowden (Cousin) on: Oct 15, 2012
