DOROTHY BINDAS (nee JOHNSON) September 23, 1924 - September 3, 2012 Dorothy was born in Winnipeg to William and Rose (Bertrand) Johnson. She graduated from Daniel McIntyre. Upon graduation she got a job building aircraft at McDonald Brothers Aircraft Co. On August 5, 1944 she married John Bindas and settled down to raise a family. After her husband's illness forced her into the role of a single parent she got a job at Eaton's downtown where she worked in a variety of jobs till her retirement in 1989. In 1989 she moved into Kirchhoff Gardens where she lived till present. She enjoyed her years there, playing cards and being with dear friends when she wasn't off travelling the world with family members. She is survived by her children Jann (Len) and Don (Sandy); five grandsons; six great-grandchildren; her sisters Pat, Louise (Gerry), Thelma, Evelyn, Shirley (Mike); sisters-in-law Margaret and Evelyn; numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband John; son Barry; brothers Bill and Andy; sister Rose; brothers-in-law Art, Carson and Nick; nieces Maureen and Dale; and nephews, Larry and Les. Her family would like to thank her family doctor Dr. Jack Rusen, the doctors, nurses, and staff of Victoria General Hospital and CancerCare, the specialists she has seen along the way and all the lovely home care folks who treated her like family. In accordance with Dorothy's wishes she has been cremated and no formal service will be held. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
