NELLY REGALADO (nee DEMAPENDAN) Our beloved mother and grandmother, Nelly (nee Demapendan) Regalado, surrounded by her family went home peacefully to her Maker and Saviour on September 16, 2012 at the Grace Hospital. She now has joined her husband, our father and grandfather Protacio Regalado, Sr., her parents Evaresto (father) and Ana (mother); her sisters Noemi and Editha; brothers Benedicto and Eduardo. Nelly was born on June 7, 1923 in Estancia, Iloilo, Philippines. She married our father on May 1, 1947 and had six children, 16 grand-children and four great-grandchildren. She moved to Winnipeg, MB, Canada in 1981. Left to cherish her moral and spiritual legacies are her children and their spouses: Bernadette (Harold Healey), Gideon (Sisko), Judy Grace (Robert Gabuna), Noel (Helen), Ruth (Jess Gonzales), and Bobby, Jr.; her grandchildren: Michael Jeffrey, Philip Andrew, Jonathan David, Anne Mirriam, Peter David, Bahandi (Maureen), Saad, Katherine June (Vil), Kristian Paolo, Paul Christian, John, Jessica Ruth-Anne (Seth), Jerahmeel John, Japheth, Kimberly Ann and Jed; her great-grandchildren: Aliyah May, Kaleb Mason, Alyssa Belle and Isaiah Malaya. She will be missed by her sisters, brother and their families: Cecilia (Domingo Camia, Canada) Elisa Solayao (Canada), Adela de la Cruz (Canada), Rebecca Buaron (Philippines) and Eliseo Demapendan (Philippines); nephews and nieces residing both in Canada and in the Philippines. Her fellowship will also be missed by her home church, The Maples Evangelical Church and members of her Seniors Group from other Filipino congregations. Nelly was a very caring and generous person. She gave of herself selflessly and tirelessly for her children and those in need. She was resourceful and courageous. In her business occupation, she even braved the strongest typhoons in the vast and deepest seas and prayed to anchor safe to the shore for the sake of her children who needed her then. She loved to smile in spite of her physical pain, appreciated her care givers and thank them for their services. She was a humble and forgiving person. She loved to baby sit her grand-children when they were young and became an avid fan of their sports activities. She enjoyed watching musical and school performances of her grandchildren. Nelly's passion was all about Jesus Christ. She consumed her waking hours organizing, reading and memorizing Scriptures, listening to sacred hymns and praise and worship choruses which she had carefully catalogued. She was an active evangelist of Jesus Christ wherever she went, such as door to door for Evangelism Explosion, doctor's clinic and hospital as a patient, to name few places. She loved to watch Christian Television programs and took important notes so she can share with others especially to her grand-children. It was a joy for her to pray and make personalized journal for every grandchild containing Bible promises about assurance of salvation, wisdom and guidance. She had a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing. She loved going places with her children. She had been to Finland, Arizona, Victoria, BC, Northern Manitoba Communities, and California and planned to go to the Arctic in Nunavut before she left us. We would like to express sincere appreciation to the staff of Calvary Place Personal Care Home and medical team of Grace Hospital with special thanks to Dr. Hartley (CPPCH) and Dr. Joshua of Grace Hospital. Lamay (visitation and tributes) will be on September 27 and 28, from 6:00 p.m. until 12:00 midnight. Service for celebration of Nelly's life starts at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral and Interment service will be on September 29, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a gathering of family and friends at the reception hall. All services will be held at Glen Eden Funeral Home located at 4477 Main St., West St. Paul, MB. Well done, thou good and faithful servant, Enter thou into the joy of the Lord . Condolences & Memories (11 entries)

  • Nay Nellie is ever loving mother to her kids, a great grandmother and a good councillor to friends and relatives. The best of I've seen and know is that she ever Love the Lord GOD and our Lord JESUS CHRIST - Posted by: gemma gonzales (friend) on: Sep 28, 2012

  • As for Toto Poleon, Nang Nelly was very loving and caring to Nong Tasing and her children, and very hard working. And as for us, her nieces, she was a great Aunt. She gave me some encouragement/advice on how to be successful and that, someday I could go abroad. She took me with her to Manila for some opportunity to help me find my first job. And as for Inday and Totong, their memories of Auntie were all about, how she gave them motherly advice on how to manage or handle the growing up kids and was very concerned about the children's healthcare. Yes, Auntie loved her grandchildren. During her first visit to Estancia, she enjoyed watching LA and KC performing at their events/programs at UpHill Kindergaten School and, was able to be there during Paopao's first baby words. Lynlyn, had also enjoyed Lola Nelly's company during her last visit to Estancia as she had laughed at her jokes...and wished it wasn't her last. AUNTIE...you are loved and will be missed. May your SOUL through the MERCY of GOD rest in PEACE. - Posted by: Lyn Regalado ((niece)) on: Sep 26, 2012

  • Every person dies but not every person really lives like Her. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, but love leaves a memory that no one can steal. May the peace which comes from the memories of love bring you the comfort now and in the days ahead. May Her eternal soul rest in the arms of Christ. May God bless and give strength to you and your family at this time - Posted by: Sanchita and Arnab Mandal (Friend of Nelly's daughter Judy & husband Bob) on: Sep 26, 2012

  • My condolences to you Judy and all your family. I know from the love and concern that you showed as you shared about your Mother that she surely must have been a beautiful person. Take care of yourselves; I realize it has been a long journey for all of you as you made memories together. - Posted by: Caroline Anawak (Colleague of Judy Gabuna) on: Sep 24, 2012

  • "Blessed is the woman who walks in the counsel of the wicked or stands in the way of sinners or sits in the seat of mockers. But her delight is in the law of the Lord, and on His law she meditates day and night. She is like a tree planted by the streams of water which yields fruit in its season, and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever she does prospers...." Psalm 1 - Posted by: jun and faith tingson arbolario ("adopted" daughter) on: Sep 23, 2012

  • I shall always remember Tita Nelly as a very devoted mother to her children, also a caring aunt to us nieces and nephews every time we came to Estancia and visit her family for vacation. Tita Nelly had tremendous influence to her children in terms of their Christian life and integrity. To all my cousins, I shall miss your mother too. My deepest condolences. - Posted by: Rhodora R Perez (niece) on: Sep 22, 2012
