ELEANOR (DOLLY) STEELE (MCGUINESS) September 29, 1916- July 23, 2012 It is with great sadness that the family of Eleanor Steele announces her passing on July 23, 2012 at the age of 95. She will be deeply missed by her sons Kevin and Bobby (Valerie). She was predeceased by her husband Bob Steele in 1994. Older brother Eddie in 1989. Her parents Edward and Mae McGuiness. Her dad Edward passed away when Eleanor was only five years old. Her mother Mae raised Eleanor and brother Eddie on her own. Eleanor was born September 29, 1916 in Queens, New York City. She attended High School at Julia Richman High School. Mom met Dad (Bob) while both were working in Manhattan, New York City. They were married in 1941 and moved to Albany, New York where Bobby their first son was born. In 1946 they moved to the Bronx, (Riverdale), New York City where Kevin was born. The family moved in 1952 to Montreal (Montreal West and Dorval), Quebec where they resided for 13 years and in 1965 moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba. Eleanor was a devout Roman Catholic. Her husband Bob made sure she arrived at church rain or shine. Mom enjoyed people. She did lots of volunteer work at The Women's Auxillary at Lachine General Hospital in Quebec and Charleswood Care Centre in Winnipeg. She took pleasure in entertaining, cooking (known for her deep dish apple pie), sewing, swimming and she especially enjoyed having the ladies over for a game of bridge. A real fashion plate, she loved her clothes and was always dressed to the nines. The family enjoyed travelling locally and afar. Mom loved life. The family wishes to express sincere thanks to the Calvary Place Personal Care Home staff for their compassion and dedicated professional care. As per Eleanor's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will not be a memorial service. We would like to remember Eleanor as the fun loving person she was and to say a prayer for her whenever you think of her. We will be loving you always Not for just a day Not for just a year But always
